Kwak Dong-yeon Joins Yoo Seung-ho and Jo Boa in My Strange Hero

Kwak Dong-yeon (My ID is Gangnam Beauty, Reunited Worlds) has confirmed he will be joining Yoo Seung-ho (I’m Not a Robot) and Jo Boa (Temperature of Love) in the upcoming SBS rom-com Revenge Returns.

Yoo Seung-ho will be taking on the lead role of Kang Bok-soo (bok-soo is the Korean word for revenge) and Kwak Dong-yeon will be taking on the role of Bok-soo’s nemesis, Oh Se-ho. Jo Boa’s character is Soo-jung, Bok-soo’s first love, and as adults the two men will fight to win her affections.

As teens, the trio were schoolmates but Bok-soo found himself unjustly accused of assault and expelled from school. Now an adult, he returns to his old high school to exact revenge and his path crosses with Se-ho and Soo-jung’s once more. Though Bok-soo has revenge on the brain, he’ll find that getting revenge isn’t as straightforward as he may have expected.

Revenge Returns will be the first time Kwak Dong-yeon plays a villain in a drama. His character is described as someone who by all appearances is a good-looking and good-natured person. But his gentle exterior hides the fact that he’s consumed by an inferiority complex regarding Bok-soo–and he has major mommy issues.

Kwak remarked of his upcoming role, “The character I will be playing is very different from the roles I’ve had in the past. I’m looking forward to challenging myself while taking on the role of Oh Se-ho.”

Set to premiere this December, the drama will have director Ham Joon-ho (Greasy Melo) at the helm, and will be penned by rookie writer Kim Yoon-Young. Revenge Returns will take over the time slot occupied by Fox Bride Star on Mondays and Tuesdays.
