So, what are we all watching this week?
What kept you reaching for more (or agonizing when there was no more), and what made you want to throw your remote through the screen? Time to weigh in…

Start-Up: The reveal and reckoning were both so painful and difficult to watch. I don’t even care about the romances anymore, I just want Dal-mi, Ji-pyeong, and Do-san to be happy and live their best lives. Could they just be a little family unit with halmoni? I wish I cared more about In-jae but I can’t muster up the emotion. Her character arc is probably the only weak spot in the story for me so far; I want to believe there’s depth to her but I haven’t seen it yet.

Currently weecapping: Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol, Start-Up
Search: I was underwhelmed. The premise and basic plot were interesting, but it dragged and felt increasingly repetitive. It would’ve worked better as a movie or maybe a four-episode special. There just wasn’t enough going on to keep it tight and focused for 10 episodes, so it meandered and lost any tension it could’ve had. Sometimes it was a thriller, sometimes a mystery, sometimes a family drama – it didn’t feel cohesive and certain of its own identity. I didn’t hate it, but it left a lot to be desired.
Birthcare Center: The tone feels a little less all over the place now that things have settled – or maybe I’m just getting used to it – and I really appreciate how non-stereotypical this drama is. Since things associated with motherhood are often trivialized, it’s fun to see every baby-related decision given the same treatment as epic battles or political intrigue.
Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol: And we’ve reached the angst and noble idiocy phase of our story. Ugh.

Start-Up: I started this a few days ago because there’s been so much hype surrounding this show. Seven episodes in and am happy to report that I’m really enjoying it! I love Dal-mi’s intelligence and outlook on life, and that Do-san is just the sweetest guy who truly thinks about others. Ji-pyeong is the one I care most about though. He and Do-san may have a petty rivalry going on right now, but I’m invested in their growing relationship (more so than any love line). It’s about time Ji-pyeong gets to be surrounded by love and it’s a good thing Halmoni has plenty of affection to dish out — she’s my favorite of the bunch. I just hope In-jae gets some love soon, too!
