Dead Rails consists of only three passive entities in the game, with Unicorn being the rarest of them all. Unicorns are a magnificent variant of the usual horses and can prove to be a great collectible item during your run. While they don’t really have any other benefits, these beasts sure look pretty. Want one so you can ride around looting people? Keep reading as we show you how to get Unicorn in Dead Rails easily.
How to Get a Unicorn in Dead Rails
Unicorn is the rarest creature in Dead Rails, with a spawn rate of just 1%. They are pure white with a touch of purple in its mane and tail along with the characteristic horny atop it’s head. Usually, you’ll find a Unicorn among a bunch of horses. However, they can also appear near your train, ridden by Outlaws or Bandits.
The best way to get one of these is by defeating the Outlaws. You can find them in Outlaw Camps and Outlaw’s Town. Once they spawn, allow them to come near your train, and you’ll be assured of the nature of all horses.
Since your primary target is getting one Unicorn, taking on the Outlaws will be utterly unnecessary if none of them ride it. When you spot this rare creature, use a Rifle or Turret to defeat all the Outlaws. This will help you get the Unicorn along with a Saddle as well.
How to Heal and Revive Teammates in Dead Rails
The other alternative is to spot one Unicorn among a herd of horses. Once you see it, keep chasing the creature to a corner where you can tame it by placing a saddle. Do note that all the horses are faster, and hence you can’t get close to them unless you force them into a corner or a wall. Furthermore, due to the white colors, you may not distinguish it from other horses, especially when they’re far away or if it’s nighttime.
All Uses of Unicorn in Dead Rails
Unicorns are some of the high-priced items in Dead Rails, lying in the same range as the Jade Sword or the Strange Mask. Trading a live Unicorn will give you 250 cash, while the dead ones can earn you 150 cash for each.

Furthermore, the Unicorn corpse can be either used as a fuel or fed to the Wolves to tame them. However, neither of these methods is recommended because you can get easy money from their carcasses.
Finally, it’s disappointing to state that there is no difference in riding Unicorns and the usual horses. Whether it’s speed boost, better health, or regeneration, you won’t get anything better from a normal horse except for its color and a chance to showcase it to your friends due to its high rarity.
