As part of Star Trek Online‘s 15th anniversary celebration, a new ship skin bundle inspired by the original Star Trek films is launching. This exciting addition promises to enhance the player’s experience, but the trailer itself may prove to be just as entertaining as acquiring the ships.
New Ship Bundle Launches with Exciting Features
In conjunction with the console release of STO‘s latest season, Unveiled, Arc Games and DECA Games have unveiled a remarkable ship bundle now available on PC. This bundle features four unique “Tier 6” ships: the Pioneer II Pilot Heavy Frigate, influenced by the original-series-themed “Agents of Yesterday” expansion; the Ark Royal Intel Carrier, modeled after the ship from the 2000 video game Starfleet Command II; the Kerala Temporal Battlecruiser, inspired by the Shepard-class from Star Trek: Discovery; and the Shangri-La Command Warship, drawing inspiration from the Bill Krause design used in the Neo-Constitution-class featured in Star Trek: Picard‘s final season. Furthermore, players will gain access to the Theseus Miracle Worker Destroyer, a ship previously exclusive to IDW’s Star Trek comic series and available only through random lockbox rewards. Each ship includes skins reminiscent of the original series-era visual style, spanning from The Motion Picture to The Undiscovered Country, as well as designs reflective of the 25th-century setting of Star Trek Online.
Enjoy a Fun and Nostalgic Trailer
While the new ships are undoubtedly exciting, STO‘s trailer for the bundle may offer even more enjoyment. This nearly five-minute cinematic showcases each vessel in action against classic late 23rd-century backdrops. Departing from traditional game trailers, this short film captures the nostalgic essence of beloved classic Trek films, featuring epic battles against Romulan warbirds and Orion raiders, alongside a humorous nod to the legendary “no-win scenario” from the Kobayashi Maru test.
A Charming Tribute to Classic Star Trek
The iconic test might have been simpler if a full Starfleet task force showed up to take on the challenge, but at least they do so with impressive retro-cool style! This trailer serves as a delightful homage to the esteemed era of Star Trek filmmaking, showcasing the ships in an endearing light.
Affordable Pricing for the Classic Film Bundle
The classic film bundle, which also includes a variety of bonus consumables and ground equipment inspired by the security armor and phasers from The Motion Picture, is now available for Star Trek Online on PC at a promotional price of 13,125 Zen (approximately €120). Note that this price will increase to 17,500 Zen (around €160) on April 1. Additionally, the four new ships can be purchased individually for 2,400 Zen (approximately €22) and will later rise to 3,000 Zen (around €27).
