Doom: The Dark Ages Chapter 9 Secret Areas
In Chapter 9, there are nine secret areas for you to discover. Rewards include Rubies, Codex entries, and charming Toys. Let’s dive into where you can find them.
Secret Area 1
From the starting point, head straight and look for a locked door on the right, about 50 meters away. It’s easily identifiable thanks to the lit torches surrounding it. To unlock it, you’ll need the Secret Key, which you can find in our guide. Inside, there’s a Wolf Statue to be smashed for the Wraithstone puzzle. There are three other Wolf Statues in the level; check our guide for their locations.
Secret Area 2
Nearby, you’ll find another locked door that also requires the Secret Key, situated close to where you found it.
Secret Area 3
The third secret is located on the right side of the map, near the Ancestral Heart. You’ll be ambushed by an Arachnotron, confirming you’re in the right area. Look for a green slime-covered wooden platform where a green skeleton awaits. Throw your shield at it, leap onto the skeleton, and you’ll find yourself in a hidden area.
Secret Area 4
Drop down from the previous location and travel straight until you spot a wooden platform acting as a mini-bridge. Jump down to the lower level to access the fourth secret area.
Secret Area 5
Your main objective here is to pull three levers to charge up the Ancestral Heart. The map divides into three sections, allowing you to tackle them in any order. For this secret, navigate to the lever on the western side. To the right, you’ll spot a ledge leading to a locked door. Jump to the ledge and interact with the door to complete a straightforward platforming challenge. Successfully finishing it rewards you with a Vagary Collectible Toy.
Secret Area 6
While navigating the mining facility on the western edge of the Forge, locate armor pickups beside a massive statue. Follow this path to a concealed wooden platform below. Jump down to access another secret area and collect a Codex page.
Secret Area 7
All remaining secrets are hidden in the underground levels of the Forge, which means you’ll need to progress through the main objective. Once you’re deeper in, navigate straight while battling the demon hordes until you see a destructible wall to your left.
This wall is just beyond the metal gate that hides the Ruby Statue. Break through, throw your shield at the chained counterweight, and collect an upgrade item once you pass inside.
Secret Area 8
Continue forward in the Forge until you find narrow platforms with metallic objects. At the end of the first platform, turn left to utilize a levitating platform. Keep going forward until you reach the mini area’s edge and look below for a hidden path. Descend to enter the secret area and complete this location aspect.
Secret Area 9
Climb to the top of the platform and aim for a red chain counterweight indicator above. Jump to the last platform in that direction where you’ll find a left shield icon. When your shield contacts the blue indicator, the platform will rise. Jump to the nearby scalable platform and then look right to locate a green skeleton. Throw your shield towards it and leap again to collect a Super Shotgun Weapon Skin.
