Star Trek Day Reveals Lego Collab & YouTube Kids Series Launch

Happy Star Trek Day! This September 8 marks an exciting occasion for Trek fans as we gear up for a monumental celebration in 2026: the 60th anniversary of the first episode airing in 1966, forever transforming sci-fi in pop culture. Paramount is kicking off the festivities early with several thrilling announcements, including the franchise’s first-ever Lego collaboration and a new YouTube series aimed at preschoolers, launching today.

Among these announcements, the Lego partnership has us particularly excited. While specific details are still under wraps, a recent press release from Paramount promises to unveil more “soon.” Considering the extensive range of Star Wars Lego sets, the possibilities for Star Trek sets seem nearly limitless. A teaser video has been released to heighten anticipation among fans.

Another highlight is Star Trek: Scouts, an animated series on YouTube designed to introduce the younger generation to the Trek universe. Developed in collaboration with Nickelodeon Digital Studio and CBS Studios, the series features three 8-year-old friends—JR, Sprocket, and Roo—who embark on exciting missions to prepare them for life as future Starfleet Explorers, encouraging them to “discover, grow, and boldly go!”

You can check out the trailer and, if you have little sci-fi enthusiasts at home, catch the first two episodes (each running about three to four minutes) on Nickelodeon’s Blaze and the Monster Machines YouTube channel, with the rest of the 18 episodes set to arrive next year.

In addition, Star Trek will make a grand appearance with a float in the upcoming Rose Parade on New Year’s Day in Pasadena, California. This spectacle will not only celebrate the franchise’s 60th anniversary but also draw attention to the upcoming live-action series Starfleet Academy.

While a precise launch date for Starfleet Academy remains pending, we can expect it in early 2026. Additionally, the current season of Strange New Worlds will wrap up its third season on September 11, with seasons four and five already in the pipeline.

As hinted during the Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con this year, the scripted podcast Star Trek: Khan launches today. Serving as a prequel to Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, this podcast features Naveen Andrews voicing the titular character. The talented cast also includes Tim Russ from Star Trek: Voyager as Ensign Tuvok, and the iconic George Takei as Captain Sulu. Tune in for new episodes every Monday until November 3 on all major podcast platforms, and don’t forget to visit the Star Trek YouTube channel.

Furthermore, Star Trek is launching a Webtoon digital comic initiative to engage with new audiences by presenting original tales steeped in universal themes within the Trek lore.
