How to Obtain the Graviton Spike in Destiny 2: A Complete Guide

Unlocking the Graviton Spike hand cannon in Destiny 2 is an exhilarating quest that combines gameplay mechanics with an engaging storyline. This Exotic weapon blends Arc and Stasis elements, making it a powerful choice for various builds, particularly in the dynamic Prismatic environment.

To access the Graviton Spike, players must complete the Edge of Fate campaign, as its unlocking is intertwined with several significant events in the storyline. Once you finish the last mission, known as The Message, head to the Altar of Reality to initiate the Graviton Through the Ages quest.

But there’s more to this hand cannon than just obtaining it. The Graviton Spike comes with three intrinsic upgrades and four catalysts that enhance its lethality. Let’s dive into the steps to acquire this Exotic hand cannon.

Just like the post-campaign quests in The Final Shape, the journey to obtain the Graviton Spike will transport you through various locations on Kepler. You’ll harness your newfound abilities to recover ancient technology for Lodi. The quest entails visiting four distinct locations, culminating in a final encounter with Vex enemies.

Throughout this quest, you’ll need to employ Kepler’s special powers to locate and scan weapon pieces in each area. Your first task in every location will direct you to a general area, where you must then seek out and interact with the weapon parts, often involving various puzzles. Here’s how to find them:

Locating the Weapon Piece in the Outer Steppes

Start by landing in the Outer Steppes and navigating to the main open area. Utilize the Mattermorph fungus on the far side to enter the Outer Wastes. Once you’re in the new area, look to your left on the cliff to locate a Rosetta Sentry near a nearby tower. After defeating it, access the terminal nearby to uncover the next part of your quest.

Proceed deeper into the Outer Steppes, passed the tunnel you originally explored. When reaching the location where you battled a boss Shank during the campaign, enter the door at the far end. Utilize the Matterspark shortcut to navigate upwards, and leap across the gaps before rolling out of the ducts. Search for a house on the cliff, which contains the next piece of the Graviton Spike.

Locate the pylon on the ground to your left and charge it to power a nearby cannon. Then, take off using Matterspark and search for the other two pylons: one upon landing and the last on the opposite side of the ducts. Electrifying all three will unlock the cliffside shack where you can find the first DEO object.

Locating the Weapon Piece in the Gorge

After landing at the Assimilated Easement, turn right and climb the fungus-infested rock. Move past the concrete cylinders and utilize the Mattermorph ability to slip through the wall into the Stellar Sink. Once on the other side, keep to the left wall and find a large hole to encounter another Rosetta Sentry. After eliminating it, proceed to the console located across a Vex wall.

Post defeating the Rosetta Sentry, head back to the hole and take the Matterspark shortcut to the left. Stay to the left wall and search for another duct. Before you emerge, notice the hole on the left, which leads to a rocky ledge across from a Vex wall.

Utilize Matterspark to leap across the gap, aiming for the small area between the concrete and metal wall. This ledge will guide you to a secret room with a Mattermorph pickup.

Collect the Mattermorph from this room and return to the duct, passing through the hole in the wall, now on your right. Clear nearby objects to access a small area containing the second weapon part, then return to the Caldera.

Locating the Weapon Piece in Exile’s Accord

Travel to the Exile’s Accord landing area and follow the path slightly ahead of you, right of the Fallen hut, leading you to Augur’s Bethel. Continue straight, making a left before the laser doors, and turn right just past the next area with a fungus-covered pipe. Enter the Matterspark duct located there and turn right again.

Look to the left in this Fallen-dominated zone to find a Rosetta Sentry alongside a terminal in a small room. Subsequently, head back through the same Matterspark duct you previously used. Spot a train across from the duct and proceed through it to retrieve the next weapon part at the end of a short corridor. Be ready for some busywork, typical of Bungie’s style.

Next, you’ll need to eliminate Vex enemies to continue your progress. You’ll collect data motes as they drop. Stronger foes yield more data, and while you can hunt Vex anywhere, the Aionian Academy (northeast of the Caldera) is highly recommended for this task, as it allows for quick re-spawning of enemies.

Finding the Lost Weapon Piece in the Aionian Academy

After defeating your Vex opponents, you can now approach the final weapon part for Graviton Spike, but only after solving a puzzle. In the Aionian Campus’ central courtyard, dismantle the Rosetta jammers to open up a door leading deeper into the area. Continue on and spot a Relocator pad protected by lasers, defended by an Imp Swarm, just before another patio full of Vex.

Once you’ve cleared the vicinity, look atop the crane on the right side where you’ll find the Relocator inside a metal cage. Approach the locked door on the other side of the patio, then turn around; the Mattermorph fungus is cleverly concealed inside a red pipe, positioned on the right side and almost parallel to the entrance.

Engage with the Mattermorph node to unveil the path to the Relocator. Obtain the modified launcher and blast through the door guarded by lasers to access the teleport pad. Once landed on the adjacent side, claim the final piece of the puzzle. However, your mission is not complete just yet; there’s one last activity you need to undertake before claiming your Graviton Spike.

Participate in the Sieve Activity

The Sieve event only runs for half an hour every couple of hours, so timing could present a challenge. However, don’t sweat it; the event is designed to feel more like a public mission rather than an intense challenge. You may be tasked with banking motes or protecting a location, and it typically wraps up quickly. If you happen to trigger a bonus round, give it your all, as the rewards can be quite valuable.

Now that you know how to unlock the Graviton Spike, it’s time to gear up and dive into this electrifying adventure. Enjoy exploring what other content awaits you in Destiny 2. For more tips, guides, and in-depth analyses, don’t hesitate to check Moyens I/O.
