In Grounded 2, discovering all six Optical Disks can make a significant difference in your gameplay experience. These disks unlock permanent upgrades essential for survival, making them a vital part of your adventure. Whether you’re a newcomer or a seasoned player, knowing their locations can enhance your gameplay early on.
I’ve tracked down all the Optical Disks in the game, and I’m here to share my findings. With this guide, you’ll quickly gain access to those sought-after upgrades.
1. All Grounded 2 Optical Disk Locations
There are six Optical Disks available in Grounded 2. They fall into two categories: TURBO disks, which provide crucial defense and creature upgrades, and Gray disks, enabling you to unlock new recipes at the Ranger Station. From my experience, TURBO disks tend to be easier to find, as they are integrated into the main campaign.
2. Snackbar Anthill Disk Location

To find the first disk, head to the right of the Ranger Station’s back entrance. After completing your training, follow the path straight ahead, turning right. Clear the rocks with your Omni-Hammer to face a Red Soldier ant. Defeat the ant and dig out the Buried Treasure chest near a corpse using your Omni-Shovel.
3. Stolen Optical Disk Location

Your SCA.B 2K will contact you after hatching your first ant buggy. Reach out to Sloane at the Ranger Station’s Comms Array for assistance. This will lead you to a base under a wooden platform northwest of the Ranger Station. Use your buggy to navigate through the tunnel and defeat the ORC Northern Scorpion. You’ll spot a toppled cabinet before a purple symbol, where the disk is located.
4. Network Center Penthouse Office Disk Location

This disk can be easily obtained. Enter the Network Center and defeat the mysterious stranger, which is part of the Stolen disk quest. Near a desk with a BURG.L head, the disk will be waiting to your right.
5. Gray Optical Disk A Location

Optical Disk A, the first of the Gray disks, can be found at the Toxic Anthill. Locate the south entrance in Snackbar Front by identifying a pesticide can with a corpse nearby. Proceed straight, turn left, and continue through the tunnel. You’ll encounter a room topped with a spray can holding a donut. Head right and navigate through the tunnel while avoiding pesticide sprays that can damage your buggy.
In the final large room, the disk will be beside a corpse. If you’re only after the disk, collect it and exit quickly, as this area also holds the Cockroach Queen boss.
6. Spider Den Anthill Disk Location

To find this disk, travel to Pine Hill and access the North Entrance located in the northeast. Descend to the second level to discover the anthill near a Worm Holes candy container. Go through the hole and proceed straight, taking the first right after disembarking your buggy. Look for an archway with a root overhead as a guide. If you’re in the right room, the disk will be on the right side near a body.
7. Ice Cream Cart Disk Location

Make your way to the marked location to discover the cart. Once there, veer right to locate a small tunnel entrance. Inside, stay to the right, where you will encounter a series of ice cream cones. Continue right and pass by two popsicles to find the body holding the disk on your left, before reaching the cone with Raw Science.
Be cautious of scorpions in this area that you’ll need to deal with. Remember to bring the necessary tools and supplies to withstand the cold, or you might find yourself freezing to death.
What are the best strategies for obtaining the Optical Disks in Grounded 2? It really depends on exploring efficiently and being prepared. Aim to gather resources that will aid you during combat to secure the disks swiftly.
Are the TURBO disks more valuable than Gray disks? While both types serve essential purposes, TURBO disks generally enhance your defense and combat capabilities more directly, making them critical for survival.
How can I identify Optical Disk locations before I collect them? Keeping a mindful eye on your surroundings and utilizing your map can help you pinpoint many of these disks more effectively, especially if you know the general areas to search.
Tracking down these Optical Disks in Grounded 2 not only expands your character’s abilities but also enhances your overall gaming experience. Don’t hesitate to explore every corner of the map, as you never know what rewards await you. For more insights and tips, keep exploring content from Moyens I/O.
