If you missed the recent Sonic Racing CrossWorlds Network Test, don’t worry! SEGA has exciting news for you. The game will soon offer an opportunity to experience it before its release later this month.
This morning, SEGA announced that a free demo will be launched in mid-September. This demo features a single-player mode, allowing players to explore different aspects of the game offline. Details about the demo’s content, such as available courses and characters, will be revealed soon.
As a fan, I’m hopeful to see a variety of characters and stages in the demo. It’s likely that SEGA will replicate much of the content from the Network Test, but this time, we won’t have the option to race against others online.

The announcement follows the successful Open Network Test, which attracted thousands of players eager to race both friends and new opponents. The test was well-received, with over 20,000 players on Steam at its peak, not to mention many others enjoying the game on consoles.
Prior to the Network Test, Moyens I/O had the opportunity to speak with Takashi Iizuka, Sonic Team’s director. They discussed various aspects of the game, including the reason behind DLC characters lacking voices and how the team selects which characters to introduce. You can read the full interview as we wait for the demo and the official game launch on September 22 for those who pre-order the Deluxe edition. The general release is set for September 25.
