StarRupture: Repairing Infected Base Core

StarRupture: Repairing Infected Base Core

Juggling multiple bases in StarRupture is vital if you want to reach the Forgotten Engine. But what happens when those bases fall under alien control?

It’s tough to keep an eye on all your bases at once. Sometimes, aliens attack, and if you can’t defend in time, the base core gets infected. The good news? You can actually repair those infected cores and reclaim your territory.

I spent hours figuring out the best way to cleanse these bases, and I’m here to share what I learned.

How Do You Cure an Infected Base Core in StarRupture?

Let’s get right to it. Here’s a step-by-step guide to fixing those nasty infected base cores.

  1. Spot the Infection: An infected core glows blue, making it easy to spot.
  2. Destroy the Infection: Shoot the glowing blue part until it breaks. In my experience, each infected core only has one visible infection at a time, but keep an eye out just in case there are more hiding.
  3. Heal the Base: After removing the infection, the base starts healing itself. Once fully healed, it’ll lose the blue glow and return to normal. Get close and press the E button to finalize the process.

I remember the first time I cleared an infection; it was so satisfying to see the base return to normal!

What Happens if You Don’t Fix an Infected Base Core?

Ignoring an infected base is like ignoring a leaky faucet – it only gets worse. An infected base can’t produce resources, defend itself, or contribute to your overall progress. Plus, it’s a beacon for more alien attacks, potentially spreading the infection to nearby bases. Deal with them quickly!

How Can You Stop Base Cores from Getting Infected in StarRupture?

Removing infections is only half the battle. You also need to defend your bases to prevent future outbreaks. Think of it as vaccinating your bases against the alien threat.

The best way to protect your bases is by setting up automated defenses. Once you upgrade the Griffits Blue Corporation, you’ll gain access to the Defense Tower and the Defense Turret. While the Defense Turret is cheaper to build, it needs manual ammo refills. The Defense Tower is fully automated, making it the superior choice. I’d recommend setting them up at every base, unless you enjoy playing whack-a-mole with alien infections.

How Many Defense Towers Do I Need Per Base?

That depends on the location and how often it comes under attack. Start with two Defense Towers, positioned to cover all approaches to the base. If you’re still seeing frequent infections, add more towers or reinforce the existing ones with Defense Turrets.

What Else Can I Do to Protect My Bases in StarRupture?

Besides defense towers, consider these strategies to keep your bases safe:

  • Patrol Routes: Set up patrol routes with your units to provide mobile defense and early warning.
  • Resource Management: Keep your resource production high enough to quickly repair any damage.
  • Strategic Placement: Choose base locations that are naturally defensible, like on high ground or near choke points.

What Resources Should I Prioritize for Base Defense?

Focus on resources needed to build and maintain Defense Towers and Turrets. This usually means prioritizing metal and energy. Also, keep a stockpile of repair materials to quickly fix any damage after an attack.

Is it Possible to Completely Prevent Base Infections?

While a perfect defense is hard to achieve, a combination of strong defenses and active patrols can significantly reduce the risk of infection. Think of it as risk management. The goal is to make your bases less appealing targets for the aliens.

Managing infected base cores in StarRupture can feel like a constant struggle. But with the right strategies, you can reclaim your bases and build a strong defense against future attacks. What defense strategies have worked best for you? Share your tips in the comments below!
