Then, through the ringing in my ears, I heard my squadmate yell, “He’s flanking, watch the door!” What I wouldn’t give for a first-person view right then—the kind I’d only glimpsed in that grainy ARC Raiders clip making the rounds.

A video posted by u/Short_Satisfaction_9 offered a tantalizing glimpse into what a first-person perspective (FPP) might be like in ARC Raiders. While the video has a raw, unfinished feel, it hints at a possible alternate game mode for the future.

However, don’t bother trying to replicate it yourself.

The Illusion of Control: Can You Actually Play ARC Raiders in First Person?

Remember those old cartoons where characters could run on air for a few steps after going off a cliff? That’s about how real the ARC Raiders first-person experience is right now. It’s currently impossible to play ARC Raiders from a first-person perspective. The viral video was created by exploiting developer console commands.

These console commands were previously available on PC, but this exploit was quickly patched. Although the user didn’t share the exact command, it forced the game to load a first-person camera view.

I can’t overstate this enough: replicating this is impossible for now. Only PC users were able to create the dev console window when launching ARC Raiders. This allowed them to override certain default graphics settings. Unfortunately, this became an exploit, and Embark swiftly removed the option. Currently, the dev console window can’t be opened (even on PC).

Why Was the ARC Raiders First-Person Exploit Patched So Quickly?

Imagine the chaos if everyone could suddenly clip through walls or spawn unlimited ammo. Maintaining a level playing field is paramount in any online game. The decision to remove the dev console access was a clear move to preserve game integrity, making it a fair experience for everyone.

The level of disruption cheaters could bring would be catastrophic for the company’s game, potentially costing them lots of money.

Are There Plans for Official ARC Raiders First-Person Support?

Think of game development as a sculptor chipping away at a block of marble. Sometimes, a feature gets temporarily exposed, only to be refined or removed entirely. Embark has stated that there will be fresh content in 2026, but I advise against expecting an official version of the former exploit anytime soon.

Could Mods Provide a First-Person ARC Raiders Experience?

The modding community often steps in where developers leave off. While there’s no current first-person mod for ARC Raiders, the possibility exists. Keep an eye on platforms like Nexus Mods. But temper your expectations: any mod would depend on the willingness of modders to reverse-engineer the game and the ongoing support from Embark.

If modders reverse the patch, players may find a similar experience to the first-person camera POV.

I wonder if the clamor for first-person is loud enough to change Embark’s roadmap?
