The hiss of the airlock echoed as I realized something: most of the ship in MIO: Memories in Orbit remains stubbornly sealed. Gaining access requires more than brute force. You’ll be threading through the Vessel to trigger distant mechanisms, or, if your goal is the Aviaries, hunting down specific keys or objects.
The Aviaries in MIO: Memories in Orbit sit poised above Shii, the map archive, and to the right of the enigmatic Estragon the Librarian and Noden the Spine. Like the Silo Access Badge, you’ll need a special item to enter this area: the Aviaries Passepartout. Fortunately, the game places this item reasonably close to the locked door, but acquiring it demands a little… initiative.
Aviaries Passepartout location
Ever notice how the most valuable things are hidden behind the toughest challenges? The Aviaries Passepartout calls the Feral Undergrowth home, specifically, the area behind the Flora boss. You must defeat Flora to claim the Aviaries Passepartout, which appears as a glowing beacon on the ground where Flora once stood.

Brace yourself as you approach the location; a colossal pink flower named Flora, the Sentient Pearltrap, materializes. She remains rooted to her spot, favoring close-quarters combat. I prevailed on my first attempt by mastering aerial movement, chaining jumps, and grappling onto the convenient hook whenever my airtime dwindled. Think of her as a bouncer guarding a VIP room.
What is the best strategy for defeating Flora in MIO: Memories in Orbit?
Treat Flora like a stationary turret. Constant aerial movement frustrates most of her attacks, giving you windows to strike. Patience and control are your best weapons.
How to use the Aviaries Passepartout in MIO: Memories in Orbit
There’s a particular satisfaction in fitting the right key into the right lock, isn’t there? The Aviaries Passepartout is automatically added to your inventory the moment you grab it. To get to the door, find the location marked on the map below. My route took me through the Bell Tower from inside the Aviaries. Alternatively, you can use the elevator closest to Mel, descend to L1: The Spine, and move right.

Where exactly is the Aviaries door located relative to other landmarks?
The door nestles to the right of the Spine, accessible either via the Bell Tower from within the Aviaries or by taking the Spine elevator, and then heading right on the L1 floor.
Of course, hitting the door from *inside* the Aviaries doesn’t exactly “open” a new area. However, unlocking this door dramatically simplifies access if you haven’t yet activated fast travel. After all, why trudge back and forth through familiar corridors when a shortcut beckons?
What benefits does unlocking the Aviaries provide in the long term?
Beyond immediate area access, opening the Aviaries door establishes a convenient shortcut, saving considerable time once fast travel becomes available. Think of it as a quality-of-life improvement that pays dividends later.
