Hell's Paradise: Manga & Anime - Is it Finished?

Remember when Hell’s Paradise first dropped? Some called it underrated. Then MAPPA got involved, and suddenly everyone was talking about it. Now that season two is here, the big question is: how much source material is left? Let’s break down whether the Hell’s Paradise manga has reached its final page and how much of the saga remains for the anime adaptation, Jigokuraku.

Think of a garden, meticulously planned and cultivated. Yuji Kaku’s Hell’s Paradise manga is just such a garden, carefully brought to its conclusion with chapter 127 in January 2021. Launched in January 2018, the manga concluded its serialization after roughly three years, encompassing 13 volumes and 127 chapters. Interestingly, MAPPA Studios began adapting Hell’s Paradise only after its print run ended.

Since then, Kaku has added a light novel, Jigokuraku: Utakata no Yume, and a one-shot spinoff, Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku Side Story – Forest of Misfortune, to the collection. The relative quiet since suggests the core narrative has indeed reached its destination.

What are the main story arcs in Hell’s Paradise?

Despite its three-year publication timeline, the Hell’s Paradise manga contains just four official arcs. Here’s the breakdown for both manga readers and anime watchers:

Arc Title Anime Episodes No. Manga Chapters No.
Island Arc 1-6 1-16
Lord Tensen Arc 7-13 (end of season 1), 14-ongoing 17-59
Hōrai Arc TBD 60-110
Departure Arc TBD 111-126
Total: 4 arcs TBD 126 chapters

Anime Adaptation: Still Drawing Breath

Imagine Hell’s Paradise as a ship still charting its course. The anime is still sailing, with new episodes arriving as of this writing. While MAPPA delivered a strong first season in 2023, fans waited three years for season two, which is currently adapting the climax of the Lord Tensen arc. Expect the current season to cover roughly the first half of the Hōrai Arc.

Will there be a third season of Hell’s Paradise?

Expect Hell’s Paradise Season 3 to be the final installment, concluding both the Hōrai and Departure arcs. Given the manga’s concise length, MAPPA Studios should wrap everything up neatly in the near future.

Is the Hell’s Paradise anime canceled?

Absolutely not! There’s no sign of cancellation for either the manga or the anime. In fact, merchandise sales on platforms like Amazon and Crunchyroll are encouraging. Instead, the story is moving toward a planned conclusion.

With the end in sight, do you think Hell’s Paradise stuck the landing, or was the ending too abrupt?
