Does Server Slam Carry Over to Marathon Release? Open Beta Explained

I watched my teammate empty a stacked backpack five minutes before the servers blinked out. You felt the room go quieter—because everything we’d grinded for in Server Slam disappears at rollout. I’m going to tell you what actually survives the wipe and why a late-night grind still matters.

I’ve spent time in the Server Slam and tracked the threads on Steam and Discord; here’s the practical map so you don’t waste your evenings chasing inventory that won’t stick.

Will you retain your Marathon Server Slam items?

At a LAN couch last weekend I watched someone refuse to believe the reset was real until the countdown hit zero.

You should treat everything in your backpack and vault as temporary. When Marathon launches fully on March 5, your in-game loadout will be wiped clean. Your backpack and active gear will be gone, your seasonal progression resets to level one, and contracts and factions you opened during the Server Slam will vanish—when the servers flip, you’ll have only the first faction available and the beginner contracts to run again. Contracts and faction rewards may also be modified for the full launch, so today’s grind might not match tomorrow’s objectives.

Does Server Slam carry over to the full Marathon release?

Short version: the raw progression and inventory do not carry over, but some account-bound rewards will appear on the full-release servers. Think of your Server Slam items as temporary test data; they prove systems, but they won’t tag along into the live economy.

Will my cosmetics and Codex progress carry over?

Cosmetics you earn in the beta are removed from your active loadout. Your Codex progress is not preserved exactly—the cosmetics and Codex entries you saw can be re-earned through new or updated Codex activities in the final game, so expect fresh challenges and possibly different requirements.

What do you retain from Marathon Server Slam

After finishing the intro mission, my profile displayed a badge that stayed with my account even after the wipe.

You won’t keep weapons, implants, or season XP, but there are account-level souvenirs that persist into the full launch. Complete the introductory mission during Server Slam and you’ll receive the Beta.exe player background and the Complex Study emblem on March 5. Beyond that, the game awards arrival caches tied to how far you advanced.

Complete your first mission: Claim the Standard Arrival Cache

  • 6 Standard Implants
  • 5 Standard Runner shell cores
  • 6 Standard weapon chip mods
  • Weapons: Overrun and Hardline

Reach Runner Level 10: Claim the Enhanced Arrival Cache (Green)

  • 6 Enhanced Implants
  • 12 Enhanced Runner shell cores (two per shell)
  • 4 Enhanced weapon mods
  • Weapons: Enhanced Magnum and Enhanced Hardline

Reach Runner Level 30: Claim the Deluxe Arrival Cache (Blue)

  • 6 Deluxe and Enhanced implants (three each)
  • 12 Deluxe and Enhanced Runner shell cores (one per shell)
  • 4 Deluxe and Enhanced weapon chip mods (two each)
  • Weapons: Deluxe Magnum and Enhanced Volley Rifle
  • Backpack: Enhanced Base Backpack

All of those arrival caches will be granted to your account once the full game goes live on March 5. They’re the only parts of Server Slam that have direct carryover status right now—everything else is a clean slate.

Your Server Slam grind still matters: earned account rewards and profile items travel forward, and that small set of carried prizes can fast-track your first hours on launch day. Your temporary haul might feel like a sandcastle at high tide, and your rare cosmetics like a backstage pass that expires with the lights—so decide whether to chase the short-term dopamine or plan for the main event.

I’ve been following community chats on Steam and Discord while playing; if you want the fastest route to those arrival caches, aim for the starter mission plus Runner Level 10 before the weekend ends. Will you push for the quick account rewards or wait and spend your energy on the live rollout instead?
