Early Guide: Farming Rosaries in Hollow Knight: Silksong

If you’ve encountered Shakra in Hollow Knight: Silksong, you probably realize you’re short on Rosaries to purchase essential items like maps, the Compass, and valuable upgrades. Don’t worry; I have a straightforward method to help you farm Rosaries early on, right near Shakra, that will set you on the path to success.

Whether you’ve met Shakra yet or not, you will soon. She’s the character located in The Marrow, the second area of the game, who offers maps, the Quill, and the Compass. To find her, head right until you reach the lava area past the initial bench. You need 30 Rosaries to unlock the area where you can climb up and left to reach her.

Once you’ve chatted with Shakra, head left and down into a room filled with moss and peculiar humanoid creatures. These enemies drop Rosaries when defeated, making this the ideal farming spot. Clear the room, and instead of heading out the way you entered, climb the platforms and go right until you find the upper exit. You’ll re-enter Shakra’s room from above. Here, you’ll discover a bench for resting and a lever that will unlock the gate to Shakra.

The Rosary farming loop here is quite simple:

  1. Rest on the bench.
  2. Return to the moss room.
  3. Defeat all enemies.
  4. Head back to the bench and rest again.
  5. Return to the moss room, where all enemies will have respawned.

The key point is that resting at a bench causes monsters in other rooms to respawn, along with their drops. This means that as long as you rest before re-entering the room, those Rosary-bearing enemies will keep appearing.

I discovered that it takes about one minute per cycle—entering the moss room, defeating all monsters, and resting at the bench. Each cycle can yield around 30 Rosaries, thanks to the six enemies present. In total, you should need approximately 11 cycles, or 11 minutes, to accumulate 330 Rosaries, which is 20 more than you’ll need to buy all items from Shakra. That’s fairly quick and low-risk; if you happen to die, you’ll respawn just outside the room where you lost your Rosaries.

Should you want to farm even more Rosaries, consider creating Rosary Strings at Shops while nearby. This way, even if you die, you won’t lose your accumulated Rosaries.
