ARC Raiders: How to Complete Shoring Up Defenses Quickly

The crane groaned above me as a Wasp darted by, sparks hissing in its wake. I fired once, watched its motor explode, and felt the map tilt back toward control. You can finish this quest cleanly if you know where to go and what to hit first.

I’ve cleared Shoring Up Defenses on both PC and console builds; I’ll walk you through every step that actually matters and cut the wandering. Below you’ll find precise targets, exact locations, and the small tricks that save minutes per run. Read fast, act faster.

ARC Raiders Shoring Up Defenses quest walkthrough

A shipping yard smells of diesel and salt before dawn.

Shoring Up Defenses on Riven Tides breaks into four crisp objectives. Two are combat: wipe out airborne ARCs. Two are field tasks: use an ARC Alloy on a crane and board a hotel window. Do them in this order and you’ll avoid backtracking and tedious respawns.

  • Destroy five Wasps
  • Destroy three Fireflies
  • Use 1 ARC Alloy to reinforce the Raider structure on top of any Stacking Yard crane
  • Board up shuttered windows in the Hotel Panorama Azzurro

How do I destroy Wasps in ARC Raiders?

Wasps are everywhere and they’re fragile—treat them like loose screws on an engine. Aim for the wing motors and you’ll prevent most evasive moves; a Hullcracker will one-shot them if you want to sprint through this step. I prefer to hunt them while moving between POIs so they die en route rather than forcing a detour.

How do I beat Fireflies in ARC Raiders?

Fireflies are the tougher flyers and they burn you if they close the distance—think of them like a fevered moth circling the lamp. Target the rear engine motor to stagger their flight; that opens a window for heavier weapons. If you’re on console or Steam, prioritize a Hullcracker or concentrated burst fire and keep lateral movement—don’t let them hover directly above you.

Use 1 ARC Alloy to reinforce the Raider structure on top of any Stacking Yard crane

Cranes creak like cathedral bells in any active port.

Grab one ARC Alloy from any wrecked ARC on the map or bring one from Speranza if you’ve already scavenged. Head to the Stacking Yard POI, hop the rope, and climb to the crane tops. Any crane will prompt you to repair the Raider structure when you’re close—interact and the task completes immediately.

If you’re short on time, plan this between Wasp and Firefly kills so you’re not climbing just to go hunt. The rope path is obvious once you reach the Stacking Yard marker; use it and don’t fall off the crossbeam unless you enjoy respawn penalties.

Where is the Stacking Yard crane to use ARC Alloy?

The Stacking Yard sits on the western edge of Riven Tides near the large shipping containers. On the map it’s a distinct POI—marker, rope, multiple cranes. If you have a waypoint set on Speranza from a previous run, the shortest route drops you at the yard’s north gate.

Board up shuttered windows in the hotel

Hotel lobbies often hold the faint stain of coffee and varnish.

Go to Hotel Panorama Azzurro. Use the main entrance, take the stairs on the left to the first floor, and proceed straight—there’s a left-room with a red-window prompt. Interact to board it up; wooden planks appear and that final objective registers. It’s a single, deliberate interaction, no combat required.

Quick tips and platform notes

Most players carry a Hullcracker from the start; I recommend it if you want speed runs. On Steam and PlayStation the weapon handles identically; frame pacing matters more than brand. Moyens I/O’s screenshots helped me map sightlines—use them if you need visual confirmation.

Run the objectives in this order: Wasps, Fireflies, Stacking Yard alloy, then the hotel. That flow keeps travel tight and avoids respawning into unfinished objectives.
