How to Get the Phoenix Hunter Mask in The Division 2

How to Get the Phoenix Hunter Mask in The Division 2

The courtyard goes silent the moment you step into it. A distant speaker coughs a single, haunting note—then nothing. I watched the game map fold itself into a riddle before my eyes.

I’ve chased Hunter masks across The Division 2 for longer than I’ll admit, and I’ll walk you through getting the Phoenix Hunter mask without detours. You need the right DLC, the right trophies already in your pocket, and a little patience. Treat the clues as a breadcrumb trail; miss one and the hunt collapses.

The Brooklyn map is a patchwork of rooftops, sewers and scorched storefronts. How to get the Phoenix Hunter mask in The Division 2

Short version: you must own the Battle for Brooklyn expansion and have all eight previously released Hunter masks found in Brooklyn. The DLC currently lists for $14.99 (€15) on Ubisoft Connect, Steam, Xbox Store and PlayStation Store. I recommend buying through the platform you use most—Ubisoft Connect ties best into The Division 2 progression if you play on PC.

Once those boxes are ticked, find five clues scattered around Brooklyn, solve the sequence, and you’ll open the door to the Phoenix Hunter. The final fight is deliberate; treat the whole process as a clockwork puzzle rather than a rushed grind.

Do I need the Battle for Brooklyn DLC to get the Phoenix Hunter mask?

Yes. The locations and doors you visit are gated behind the DLC, so without it you can’t reach several of the clue locations. Buy via Steam, Ubisoft Connect, Xbox Store or PlayStation Store and sync your account—if you play across platforms, make sure the DLC is on the platform you actually log into for the game.

Brooklyn doesn’t give up secrets in one place. Where to find the five clues

The clues are spread in a way that forces you to move through distinct neighborhoods—useful if you like exploration more than rote checklisting. Below I break down each clue with exactly where to go and what to interact with.

1st Clue location

Go to the Warehouse Control Point in Dumbo, under the Manhattan Bridge. Opposite the control point is the building that hosts the Necronos Hunter fight—enter it and climb to the roof. At the top of the stairs is a small fire; the first clue sits beside it. Collect it and move on.

Find the Tracker Hunter encounter. There’s a door marked “192.” If you enter the obvious door you’ll trigger a tripwire that sets a room on fire. Back out, go straight from the main entrance, then left to the other doorway also marked “192.”

On the opposite side you’ll see red scaffolding. Climb to the window, go inside and flip the valve. Drop down and find the manhole to the underground—another valve awaits. Turn both valves to snuff the fire in the 192 room, then enter and collect the second clue.

3rd Clue location

Head to the Redtail Hunter spot under the Manhattan Bridge. Climb the fence and drop into the manhole. A tripwire will set fires at three sewer locations—shoot the pipes at those locations to extinguish them.

Two sealed doorways hide yellow fuse boxes inside the sewers—shoot them to power UV lights. In the center you’ll find Greek lettering on a wall; the fuse there activates the third UV light. That gives you the third clue.

Opposite the Police Station there’s a massive façade covered in letters. From the courtyard, shoot the letters in order to spell PHOENIX. Don’t shoot a letter twice—if you misfire, restart the sequence. When you succeed, music will play in the courtyard and the fourth clue will be available.

The final clue sits northwest on the map near the smaller bridge. Keep to the right bank and watch for a glass house. Outside it is a blue generator—interact to disable the fire turret protecting the area, then collect the clue.

A locked door with “Keep Out” is a promise of conflict. Phoenix Hunter location and the final fight

Once you have all five clues, head to the marked spot in the image above. The door reads “Keep Out.” Go inside and fight the Phoenix Hunter. He’s scripted into that room—bring damage, cover, and a plan to control any adds.

How do I fight the Phoenix Hunter?

Expect a focused boss with phases. I recommend a high-DPS primary, an assault rifle or LMG for sustained damage, and a skill that provides temporary shielding or a decoy. If you play on console, the encounter is identical across Xbox and PlayStation; on PC, use Ubisoft Connect or Steam settings to make sure notifications don’t interfere mid-fight. If you stream or clip using OBS, mute overlays that might block sightlines.

Defeat him and the mask drops as loot. It’s purely cosmetic but rare—if you care about collection, this is one of those pieces that signals you’ve followed every breadcrumb. The hunt rewards patience and a careful eye; did you keep yours focused enough to finish the job?
