I watched a party wipe because the healer’s cooldown landed on the wrong turn. You felt that tight knot in your gut as the boss reset with half your run gone. I kept notes, replays, and a pile of angry Discord messages until the pattern stopped surprising me.
Complete QuestAway class tier list
On launch day Steam threads and the official Discord were full of the same argument: which class carries a run and which one burns out first?
I’ve played every class, read Reddit builds, and tested gear setups so you don’t have to. Below I rank the six classes into three tiers based on how they perform in the current 1.0 build, what mistakes I saw squads making, and which comps repeatedly survived when everything else failed.
Which QuestAway class is best for beginners?
If you want a forgiving start, the Warrior teaches rhythm and timing without punishing you for minor mistakes. It plays like a safety rail while you learn enemy tells, and it won’t make you rage-quit after one bad pull.
How do I build a Mage for maximum damage?
Mage damage pivots on elemental synergies and cooldown rotation. Use gear that boosts one element heavily, stack spell crit, and pair with a Healer or Engineer who can stall when your shields are down—this simple discipline turns the Mage from glass cannon to run-breaker.
S-tier
- Healer: The only dedicated healing class, the Healer controls whether a run survives emergency trash pulls or wipes to a boss enrage. The Healer is a quiet anchor in a storm. Learn cooldown management and shield timing and you’ll be the most demanded player in any lobby.
- Mage: Raw output that outpaces most non-melee options when built correctly. Focus a single element—fire for sustained damage, lightning for burst, ice for control or arcane for versatility—and pair that build with gear that raises spell crit. The Mage is a fireworks factory turned into a battering ram.
A-tier
- Warrior: Solid, simple, and forgiving. Its sustain and HP allow you to make rookie mistakes while learning fight patterns. The one frustration is that bleed and sustained output feel lower than they should compared to the Mage, but it remains the best classroom for new players.
- Assassin: High single-target damage and satisfying burst windows, but light on HP. This is a player-skill class—if you can land interrupts and position well, you’ll out-damage the Warrior; if not, you’ll be fragile in longer fights.
- Engineer: Ranged and gadget-driven, the Engineer plays unlike any other class in the genre. Turrets, traps, and timed devices demand a mental checklist; once you master that cadence, the Engineer becomes a tactical Swiss Army knife that can carry tricky objective runs.
B-tier
- Archer: High potential DPS but paper defense. Your success hinges on build precision and partner protection. Pair her with a Healer or crowd-control support, and she sings; leave her alone and she dies before she reaches her rhythm.
