Predator Returns in COD BO6’s Haunting Event: Why It’s Hard to Care

Predator Returns in COD BO6's Haunting Event: Why It’s Hard to Care

The much-anticipated seasonal event, The Haunting, is making its return to Call of Duty this week. However, with the buzz surrounding the Black Ops 7 beta, there hasn’t been much spotlight on this exciting event yet.

This hesitation is understandable. Activision’s recent decision to reduce skill-based matchmaking in BO7 is making it challenging for players to get back into the rhythm of Black Ops 6 and Warzone just in time for The Haunting, which kicks off on October 9.

Though the collaboration with Predator looks phenomenal, many are feeling less excited due to the absence of a Carry Forward program between BO6 and BO7 this year. After receiving many complaints about unrealistically designed skins in the game, BO7 promises a fresh start for players.

Any items unlocked during BO6’s season six or The Haunting will not transfer to BO7. While they will still be available in Warzone, the overall lack of excitement surrounding that game’s future plans makes this transition feel a bit lackluster.

In previous years, The Haunting has introduced exciting twists to the battle royale format, introducing monsters to battle, fun collaborations with horror properties like Scream and Terrifier, along with spooky-themed cosmetics. This year’s event seems to include iconic characters such as Jason Voorhees from Friday the 13th and Chucky from Child’s Play. Yet, with BO6 set to fade into the background as BO7 launches, players may wonder what the point is.

It’s likely that the Predator will find a home in the free-to-play battle royale version of the game. However, for those focusing solely on multiplayer experiences with BO6 and BO7, this event might feel like a missed opportunity. Fans who voiced frustration over past collaborations with Beavis & Butthead and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles could find themselves wishing for Predator’s return when the new game arrives.

Predator originally appeared in Call of Duty as part of a legendary collaboration way back in 2015, featured in Call of Duty: Ghosts. Now, the iconic character is expected to join the season six battle pass.

Typically, CoD enables players to level the final battle pass of one game in the subsequent release. However, without the Carry Forward feature, BO7’s season one might kick off alongside the game’s release on November 14 or shortly thereafter.

Personally, I’m going to miss the Beavis & Butthead skins, along with the Raphael Ninja Turtle outfit. Now, I can add Predator to that list. Here’s hoping Activision addresses community concerns when it comes to BO6’s season six, particularly in the days leading up to its launch.
