Late to the Drama Chat: What Happens When You’re the Last One to Join?

It happens: you watch a drama months or years after it aired and you fall in love. You want to unpack the mind-blowing episode you just saw, but everyone has already moved on and the un-moderated internet is rife with spoilers.

As social animals (online), how do you deal with the lack of active discussion around your “current” binge? Does it affect your viewing experience at all?

When it happened to me with Heartless City, I was lucky enough to find a group of folks who were game to re-squee over the show and welcome stragglers to the Paksa party. It eventually led to some friendships outside of dramaland where we’d send postcards and check on each other.

Though I’ve seen other shows later than their airing date, Heartless City still has a special place in my heart. (I swear it’s not just Jung Kyung-ho’s guyliner!)

Tell us about a time when you watched a drama later than everyone else. Did you find it less enjoyable, or did something happen to make it memorable?
