In a handwritten letter released on October 13, Seunghan explained his decision to leave, saying, “I know many people are taking my potential return to activities seriously, and I, too, recognize the seriousness of the current situation.”
He added, “I began to wonder if I was being too self-centered, if I was causing harm to the members and the company, and whether it was truly right for me to remain in a team like RIIZE, which deserves to be loved. After deep reflection, I could only feel worry and guilt.”
He also confessed, concluding, “That’s why I believe leaving the team is the best decision for everyone.”
Seunghan then expressed his desire not to cause any more confusion or pain to the fans, not to burden the members further, or cause more damage to the company.
“I want to thank the company and the members who tried to give me another chance, and I feel both sorry and grateful to all those who supported me, despite my shortcomings,” he shared.
In his closing remarks, Seunghan said, “I truly hope that the relationship between RIIZE and their fans, BRIIZE, which has been growing through mutual support, won’t deteriorate because of me. It breaks my heart to see fans arguing because of me. I sincerely hope that the RIIZE I love continues to be cherished and supported, and I will wholeheartedly cheer for them in the future.”
On the other hand, Seunghan debuted with RIIZE in September 2024 with the first single album “Get A Guitar”. He had temporarily halted his activities in November 2024 due to a controversy over his personal life.
When SM Entertainment announced his return after 10 months on October 11, the fandom protested.
A large number of mourning wreaths were sent in opposition to his return, and just 2 days later, it was announced that Seunghan had officially left the group. RIIZE’s agency, SM Entertainment, said in their statement that they would continue to support Seunghan in pursuing his talents and dreams.
