On October 12, Jessi posted an apology on her Instagram regarding the controversy involving a fan being assaulted by a member of her entourage.
Below is the full text from Jessi’s Instagram.
“Hello! This is Jessi.
First of all, I sincerely apologize for causing concern to many people with the recent reports of an assault incident related to me.”
Recently, while I was having a private gathering with an acquaintance, a fan politely requested a photo. I declined twice, as it was late at night. At that moment, someone I met for the first time that day suddenly assaulted the fan.
I was so shocked by the unexpected situation that I failed to properly consider the fan’s feelings. Regardless of the circumstances, I deeply regret that my fan suffered such harm, and I feel a moral responsibility.
After the incident, my agency and I have been in contact with the victim’s mother, working to ensure that the attacker apologizes and provides compensation. We are also striving to ensure that the attacker receives appropriate punishment. I kindly ask the media to refrain from reporting based solely on one-sided claims or speculation.”
Previously, on JTBC’s “Crime Chief”, a witness claimed that they saw Jessi and her group in Seoul last month and asked for a photo. One of the men in Jessi’s group allegedly swore at the fan and blocked them, while Jessi politely declined the request. However, as the fan was about to leave, another man approached and suddenly attacked the fan by hitting and kicking them.
The victim’s mother later visited Jessi’s agency and found out that the attacker was a Chinese acquaintance of a producer close to Jessi. But Jessi clarified she had met the attacker for the first time that day.
According to “Crime Chief”, the victim reported the attacker to the police. The Gangnam Police Department, which is handling the case, stated that they have contacted the producer who was present to identify the attacker and that the producer is expected to appear for questioning next week.
