Lovely Runner Actress Accused of Being Pick-Me Girl in Controversial Photos

Actress Jeong Ah-jeong recently caused a stir by appearing in “Lovely Runner,” currently one of the hottest K-dramas in South Korea. However, she immediately stirred controversy by posting behind-the-scenes photos with the leading actor, Byeon Woo-seok. While it’s normal for colleagues to interact on social media, what upset many viewers was Jeong Ah-jeong posting a photo of both of them with their faces hidden, making a hand gesture and tagging Byeon Woo-seok as if it were a “lovestagram” to attract attention.

As soon as the post was shared, many fans of “Lovely Runner” rushed to the comments section to criticize Jeong Ah-jeong’s actions. Particularly, many felt that she was intentionally undermining the effort to build chemistry between the main couple with such a “ambiguous” photo.

Below are some comments from netizens:

  • There are plenty of ways to promote a project, such as group photoshoots, individual shots of the main actors and actresses… Yet she chose to post a private photo with the male lead, and it looks like a lovestagram. Is she a pick-me?
  • Supporting actors should give the spotlight to the main couple. She posted a photo that looks like a lovestagram. People who don’t know might think they’re in a relationship.
  • Stay away from Byeon Woo-seok, please.
  • Is she trying to be a pick-me both on and off-screen?

Jeong Ah-jeong has not responded to or addressed the criticism. It’s known that the actress is playing the role of Da Hye – a schoolmate of the male lead Seon-jae and someone who has feelings for him. This character is also seen as a new antagonist in the film, promising to stir up a lot of drama in the main couple’s relationship.

On the other hand, “Lovely Runner” follows Ryu Seon-jae (Byeon Woo-seok), a famous idol who passed away under suspicious circumstances, purportedly by suicide, and Im Sol (Kim Hye-yoon), a fervent fan thrown into a serious crisis by his death. The latter is inadvertently given the chance to go back to the past to save Seon-jae and herself.
