Goo Hye-sun Reveals Car Accident Injuries and Staff Conflict

On the October 10th broadcast of KBS 2TV’s “Let’s Live Together with Park Won-sook”, actress Goo Hye-sun joined the show as the youngest member.

Meeting the members for the first time, Goo Hye-sun shared her personal stories. She revealed, “I entered university in 2011 but couldn’t attend due to acting commitments. I returned in 2020 and graduated this year. I graduated from Sungkyunkwan University, and I’ve now entered KAIST for graduate school. I didn’t like studying when I was little, but now I enjoy it. I even enjoy doing homework. I plan to pursue a master’s and eventually a doctorate.”

Reflecting on her challenging experience while filming “Boys Over Flowers”, Goo Hye-sun recalled, “It was when I was physically at my peak. I could stay up all night and keep going. One day, a staff member came to me and said, ‘Hye-sun, please say you’re hungry. We can only eat if you say so. We can only wash if you say so.’ I quickly washed my hair with soap at a water tap and rushed to the set, but the staff couldn’t do the same, which made them dislike me.”

She explained the pressure she put on herself, “I was scared that if I asked to eat, I might lose the role. I got cast because people said ‘Hye-sun has great stamina’, so even when I was sick, I pushed through.”

During “Boys Over Flowers”, where she played a swimmer, she had an accident while diving. She said “I had to do diving scenes. I fell headfirst while practicing alone. I didn’t know I wasn’t supposed to dive like that. I had symptoms like vomiting for 3~4 days“, revealing she suffered a concussion.

Towards the end of filming, she was involved in a severe car accident. “There was so much bleeding that my face was all busted up. The car was totaled. The drama had to air a special episode because we couldn’t shoot, and I had to have my face stitched up. Since we couldn’t delay the show again, I had to act with just facial expressions.”

Despite all these injuries, Goo Hye-sun continued filming out of responsibility. “I had so many accidents and injuries that I eventually became afraid.

She also shared that she had to drop out of the drama “You’re Too Much” after just six episodes due to health issues. “I developed food allergies to beef, pork, eggs, milk and shellfish. The only thing I could eat was rice. I suffered from anaphylaxis and collapsed in a public restroom. A cleaning staff member found me, broke the door open and saved me. After that, I became very careful about food.”
