Recently, ahead of the release of the film “A Normal Family”, Soo-hyun (better known by the stage name Claudia Kim) met with reporters at a cafe in Seoul’s Sogyeok-dong.
“A Normal Family” is a suspense film that depicts the unraveling of a couple, whose lives are shattered after they view CCTV footage of their children’s crime scene. The film is based on Herman Koch’s novel “The Dinner”. Soo-hyun plays Ji-soo, who is married to Jae-wan, a character portrayed by Seol Kyung-gu, after the latter’s first wife passed away.
An online encyclopedia had stated that Soo-hyun, during a three-year hiatus since 2013, struggled to find her path as an actress before resolving to return to acting while working at an NGO’s Swiss headquarters. However, Soo-hyun clarified, “There are many inaccuracies. I don’t know where these stories come from.” She further explained, “There is an NGO called Compassion. I participated in performances like singing and dancing, thinking of it as a way to give back. Many actors, including Yoo Ji-tae, took part. But I did not work there.” She also mentioned that she had never intended to quit acting.
Information claiming that Soo-hyun dropped out of a master’s program in Film Arts at Sejong University is also incorrect. She stated, “I’ve never been to graduate school. I don’t even know where Sejong University is. I didn’t have time to attend grad school. I was busy modeling at that time. I completed my undergraduate degree while taking online classes due to drama filming.”
“A Normal Family” is set to be released on October 16.
