The first teaser for MBC’s rom-com webtoon adaptation A Good Day to Be a Dog has dropped, giving us a look at the ever-adorable Park Kyu-young (Celebrity) and her attempts to win over Cha Eun-woo (Island).
Han Hae-na (Park Kyu-young) is no different from your average girl working your average high school teacher job, with the tiny difference that she is cursed to turn into a dog every night from the hours of 12AM – 6AM after her first kiss. Needless to say, this has stopped her from getting it on in the romance department for quite some time: 28 years in fact. But when a drunken kiss with her fellow teacher Jin Seo-won (Cha Eun-woo) activates her curse, she now has to figure out how to get Seo-won to kiss her in her dog form (the only way to break the curse) when he has a gigantic fear of dogs.
The teaser opens with a little introduction to Hae-na: she’s spunky, loves to grab drinks with her coworkers, and dogs are obsessed with her — like, coming to her in droves obsessed. But as lovable as she is, the only person immune to her charms is Seo-won, who responds to all of her advances with a glare and a quick exit. She is flabbergasted at how he could possibly not like her: “I’m kind of ridiculously cute.” To which we cut to his deadpan response, “Is that supposed to be a question?”
Thankfully for her, it looks like Seo-won feels more than what he lets on. After a close moment under an umbrella, he shares in the voiceover, “I’m not avoiding you because I don’t like you… please don’t misunderstand.” And there goes the green light for Hae-na to jump into her first relationship.
Oh no, but what’s that? Ominous music? We end the teaser on a drunken Cha Eun-woo searching the streets for Hae-na, only to find a white dog peeking at him from around the corner. In disbelief, he asks, “Hae-na?” Dog-form Hae-na looks back at him sheepishly. Yup, that’s her. Let the curse shenanigans begin.
Written by Baek In-ah and directed by Kim Dae-woong (Start Up The Engine), A Good Day to Be a Dog will premiere on October 11 on MBC.
