And the promos for tvN’s upcoming The Uncanny Counter 2 continue! After dropping character posters and teasers for the baddies (Kang Ki-young is that you?!), now it’s time for our good guys.
Reprising their roles from the first season are: Jo Byung-kyu (Stove League), Kim Se-jung (Today’s Webtoon), Yoo Joon-sang (Alchemy of Souls),Yeom Hye-ran (The Glory), and Ahn Seok-hwan (Love in Contract), along with team newbie Yoo In-soo (The Good Bad Mother).
Although we’ve met most of our heroes before, there’s nothing like a fancy reintroduction to the six counters — and a reminder of their respective skill sets — to get us pumped for the new season.
First up is our not-a-newbie-anymore So Moon (Jo Byung-kyu), who has become a psychokinesis master and the team ace. Then there’s our ahjuicy ajusshi Ga Mo-tak (Yoo Joon-sang), and we witness his nuclear punch and he’s noted to be able to take people out with a single hit.
Next up is the lovely and fierce Do Hana (Kim Se-jong), who is still as crushworthy and butt-kicking as ever (or perhaps even more so) as the mighty “human radar.” And we can’t forget the team healer Chu Mae-ok (Yeom Hye-ran), nor our leader, Choi Jang-mul (Ahn Seok-hwan). Finally, we have the team newbie in the shape of country boy Na Jeok-bong (Yoo In-soo) who will likely bring a little levity to the crew as he learns the ways of being a counter. His character is promised a cool growth arc and a hidden special talent. (Also, ngl, he gives me Napoleon Dynamite vibes, so I’ll just be here laughing until the premiere).
Production continues under PD Yoo Sun-dong (Vampire Prosecutor 2) and writer Kim Sae-bom, and the 12-episode drama will premiere on July 29 in tvN’s Saturday-Sunday slot.
