After a robust and totally entertaining conversation around things dramas do that remind us they are pure fiction, it’s time to ponder those same tropey things… and admit sometimes we wish they were real. This can range from the portrayals of romance and courtship, to the dressing tables replete with expensive skincare, to the fact that no matter how poor you are you always get a fantastic wardrobe.
The thing I always wish was real when I’m watching dramas is their portrayal of hospitals as warm, safe, and free of all the things that actually make hospitals hospitals. Instead, in dramas, they are places where you can stare longingly at your beloved in their cozy bed when they are sick but looking gorgeous, and where no one will enter the room to bother your moment (unless it’s your romantic rival). There are no nurses, doctors, or even pesky monitors around. No germs or bad smells. It’s just you, your love interest, and that delightful mist machine.
What’s one tropey thing dramas do that you wish (secretly or not-so-secretly) was actual reality?
