Team Dramabeans: Our Current Watchlist – September 16, 2024

So, what are we all watching this week?

What kept you reaching for more (or agonizing when there was no more), and what made you want to throw your remote through the screen? Time to weigh in…

Destined With You: *taps mic* I’m fully prepared to admit: Rowoon does things to me! I thought initially it was just his character and the setup in Sunbae, Don’t Put on That Lipstick, or in The King’s Affection, but now the third time is proving it: he’s just so sincere at portraying falling in helpless, adoring love onscreen that it makes me all kinds of verklempt. As for the plot, I feel so strangely crestfallen that the spells weren’t real. Like, say what, Show? I was, and continue to be, so completely ready to suspend disbelief and believe in them… so while I’m sad, I also love how they’re playing it, and how the logic is being held a bit loosely on purpose (so maybe they’re real after all…). I’m also deeply relieved we still have half our drama to go. Because while that does mean there’s a chance for all hell to break loose, I really just want to hang out in this story for many more episodes.

My Lovely Boxer: Do you hear that sound? It’s the sound of my bean counter, and this drama swiftly collecting 90% of my 2024 beans.

Destined With You: I should not have watched Episode 8 while I was trying to go to sleep. It had my stomach in knots, checking to make sure my door was locked. On a lighter note, Episode 7 was a trove of Treasure Hunts past! We got a camping couple and then we saw our male lead realize he’s saved as Groot in our heroine’s phone, lol.

My Lovely Boxer: Lee Sang-yeob this week was just wow. “Don’t come near me. You’ll get hurt.” Man, those were some loaded words that had nothing to do with the broken glass.

A Time Called You: What the lack of logic just happened? I was so utterly addicted to the first 8 episodes but then when the real reveals started I felt like it just fell off a cliff. The pros: Rowoon’s cameo. The cons: why was it only a cameo?! I really wanted to know about the life of those characters and it didn’t make sense to me that the story didn’t go there. Overall, it seemed like a jumble when it came to deciding which storylines were important and which weren’t just so the show could be clever with the timeline. Nope, sorry, it didn’t work for me. I was more impressed with being transported back to the 90s myself with chewed-up cassettes and those little red ribbons that pop the batteries out of a tape player.
