Destined With You: Rowoon is just a pure delight here, as is Jo Boa. I love them together, and I love how hands-down goofy this drama is. It’s also committed to its details — like Hong-jo’s folding table and elegant white dress. I’m not sure why we haven’t dug into the past-life connection yet (so that worries me a bit), and I’m bored to tears over both second leads, BUT, the leads make up for it so much that I’m not complaining. The drama is at its best when they are interacting, or trying not to interact, and I think a part of me permanently died when Shin-yu gave his official love confession.
My Lovely Boxer: This continues to be my hidden gem drama. I love everything about it! I even love how much I hate Jae-min’s character — it only makes me look forward to his comeuppance and boot off my screen. Episode 6 lagged bit for me and I realize it’s because we saw less of the bond forming between Kwon-sook and Tae-young. That dynamic is where my interests lie. What’s going to happen when the second match approaches?! We know it won’t be as easy as losing and walking away…
A Time Called You: Episode 1 left me super super super intrigued, especially since I haven’t seen the original (yet). I am left with the following quandary: watch the rest of this drama, even though Jeon Yeo-bin leaves me cold (sorry guys), or, just go watch the original.

Destined With You: I’m liking this drama for the slapstick comedy of Shin-yu trying to fight the effects of the love spell, but I’m extremely peeved that the story gave him a girlfriend/wannabe fiancée who doesn’t add anything to the plot beyond being an annoyance. Like, if you’re going to put the leading man in a situation where he’s caught between his long-term significant other and a random woman who’s accidentally cast a love spell on him, at least give the girlfriend some significance so we believe he actually feels guilty and conflicted about his undesired two-timing. Instead, we’re saddled with the cliched and clingy Na-yeon. Yes, my hate for Na-yeon makes it easier for me to root for our OTP and forgive the fact that Shin-yu is two-timing, but I also really, really hate the obsessed-woman-who-won’t-take-no-for-an-answer trope.
My Lovely Liar: There’s so much going on with this plot that I should hate it, but I don’t. Somehow Sol-hee’s built-in lie detector holds the story together, and I find myself easily switching off my brain to enjoy this romance with a side of murder and mayhem.

My Lovely Boxer: I’m trying to put my finger on exactly what makes me so excited for this show. For one, Kim So-hye is such a natural that I completely buy her as a boxing champ. And the leads have so much chemistry together it’s just fun to watch. But there’s also something about the overall storytelling – from the writing to the visuals to the performances – that makes everything work. It’s so rare to have all the parts gel so well. The only thing that took me out of the story a little this week was the match in Episode 5, where the opponent didn’t have the build or stance of a boxer and just seemed miscast. Other than that, 10 out of 10. I can’t wait to see where it goes.
Destined With You: I love this. It’s old school in all the best ways. Pure fun. Also, Rowoon’s hands are so pretty.
