[OST Corner] My Beauty: Discover the soundtrack of your beauty journey

Fiction has always been my favorite form of escapism ever since my childhood days, and when the responsibilities of adulting began to leave little time for a bookworm’s indulgence, it wasn’t long before music filled that gap. Just like how delving into the pages of a book opens up a whole new universe, listening to an OST can send me tumbling back down the rabbit hole into that drama’s mystical realm.

For me, the best example of this is “My Beauty” from Extraordinary You. Simply thinking of the drama cues the song’s opening notes to dance across its piano keys, and listening to the song brings to mind a montage of our lovable manhwa characters and the fascinating multiverse they inhabit. I may not have had the best high school experience myself, but listening to “My Beauty” makes me feel like I’m living vicariously through the spirited and self-assured Dan-oh, stepping into her shoes and experiencing a whole new realm.

Just like Dan-oh navigated the overlapping worlds of the Stage and Shadow, this song transcends the boundary between reality and fantasy, opening up a gateway into a fantasy world. Whether that’s an out-of-reach umbrella in a flower-filled garden, a starry night sky in a library’s corner, or a fairytale-like historical romance, it’s a magical experience nonetheless. There’s nothing more empowering than being reminded that you have the power to write your own story — after all, like Dan-oh said, if you see the world from your perspective, then you’re the main character.
