So, what are we all watching this week?

What kept you reaching for more (or agonizing when there was no more), and what made you want to throw your remote through the screen? Time to weigh in…

See You in My 19th Life: What a fun week for this drama — the beach trip trope really got me! Overall I’m really enjoying how everything unfolds and is revealed in the story; it feels like the first half of the drama was about building/rebuilding all the bonds between the characters so their affections are firmly in place for the second half. That being said, I have no idea where this drama is going, or how serious it will get, or what it really wants to say about its heroine’s fate, so I’m completely enmeshed. And slightly concerned.

Reflection of You: Is there a support group for this drama? I finished it and now I’m so mixed up I don’t know how to feel. The writing is excellent — gripping from beginning to end — and I later realized it’s from the same screenwriter as Just Between Lovers (though the story is based on a novel). Everyone in the drama is both a victim and a perpetrator. So, even though they’re all “bad” in some way, they’re so well motivated that you really feel for all of them even as you hate them. It’s a complicated mess that I sort of love and admire for being able to pull off that kind of emotional feat. But it left me feeling so awful that I’m not sure why I love it. And it’s interesting because all the drama’s characters feel exactly that way about each other: they love the people that make them feel the worst. All in all, impressive (even if Kim Jae-young deserves better).
