We all know that K-dramas do details well, especially when it comes to the actors/characters we are staring at for 16 hours straight. One such detail that always captures my attention? Hands. I look at them as much as I look at faces. I notice when they’re attractive and/or well kept — and also when they’ve been blatantly ignored. In dramas, I’m always surprised to see a knockout face with flawless skin matched up with frayed fingernails. And yet, it happens! (Which you wouldn’t expect when you consider all those closeups of handholding.)
But the frequency of the not-taken-care-of hand only increases my enthusiasm for lovely hands. Whether they’re the beautiful ones we’ve come to appreciate (ahem, Jinyoung!) or, more generally, if we’re noticing how they’re used to help tell the story when a hand moves into the frame (maybe touching someone’s face before a kiss) — hands are a detail I always look for.
Do you notice hands while you’re watching dramas?
