With two weeks left until its premiere, promotions are pouring in for the long-awaited return of SBS’s The Fiery Priest 2. Starring the original hot-blooded trio, Kim Nam-gil (Song of the Bandits) dons his robes once again alongside his equally short-tempered partners Honey Lee (Knight Flower) and Kim Sung-kyun (Moving).
The latest trailer begins with violent crimes detective Gu Dae-young (Kim Sung-kyun) screaming for Kim Hae-il (Kim Nam-gil). The fiery priest has disappeared and left behind a letter explaining how it is much too dangerous for the others to accompany him. Losing his temper, Dae-young crumples up the note and vows to catch the runaway priest. Looks like the crew is headed to Busan!
A new case means new faces as the teaser introduces Kim Hyung-seo a.k.a. BIBI (The Worst of Evil) as Busan narcotics detective Gu Ja-young. As long as she can take down drug dealers, there is nothing she will not do. Dressed as Harley Quinn to Hae-il’s Joker, she does a spinning kick right into an opponent’s face, and joins the team after hearing Dae-young’s promise to let her continue her investigation.
As for the villains, Seo Hyun-woo (Seoul Busters) plays corrupt prosecutor Nam Doo-heon who teams up with drug king Kim Hong-shik played by Sung Joon (Call It Love). The pair intend to wage a war, and slowly but surely, they take control of the city through violence. However, Hae-il and his team plan to stop them because, just like five years ago, it is up to them to fix the problems those in charge have ignored.
Written by Park Jae-beom (Vincenzo) and directed by PD Park Bo-ram (Through the Darkness) — the same creative team from the first season — SBS’s The Fiery Priest 2 is slated for twelve episodes and premieres November 8 in the Friday-Saturday slot.
