Joo Ji-hoon and Jung Yumi Reflect on Their Roles in “Love Your Enemy”

Poking some fun at our rom-com’s star-crossed lovers, tvN released the first posters and a new video teaser for Love Your Enemy, painfully reuniting our story’s Romeo Joo Ji-hoon (Blood Free) with… er…. Romeo Juliet Jung Yumi (The School Nurse Files).

You see, adding another layer of angst (and confusion) to the classic tale, our fated pair share the same birthday as well as the same name, Ji-won. But despite professing their one true love, being just teenagers at the time, their relationship ultimately crumbled under the generational feud between their families. The teaser thus begins with a cute animation where Seok Ji-won (Joo Ji-hoon) approaches Yoon Ji-won (Jung Yumi), calling out, “O Ji-won, Ji-won! Wherefore art thou Ji-won?”

The scene then transitions to our live-action characters in present day, paying homage once again to Shakespeare’s script with soft light breaking through yonder window and enveloping our leads in a hazy, pretty glow. Our sun Yoon Ji-won reaches out this time to Seok Ji-won, tenderly resting her hand on his cheek.

But as expected, the fairytale music soon cuts out as Yoon Ji-won’s gentle touch turns into a sharp pinch, berating Seok Ji-won for spouting nonsense. The teaser then closes on Seok Ji-won’s angry wince and the captions explain that we’re in for an enemy romance, 18 years in the making.

Premiering next month on November 23, tvN’s Love Your Enemy will be airing on weekends with PD Park Joon-hwa (Alchemy of Souls, What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim) at the helm and writing by Im Ye-jin (The Tale of Nokdu, Moonlight Drawn By Clouds).
