Eom Ji-won Leads Brewery for Eagle Brothers: Exciting New Venture

Healing and hilarity come together in our first introduction to the KBS weekender For Eagle Brothers (previously Please Take Care of the Five Eagle Brothers), with two teasers showcasing our main cast and their family brewery.

Our first teaser opens in a courtyard, where a rainshower has emptied all the seats of their guests. Walking down the aisle anyway, the groom lovingly takes the hand of our heroine Ma Kwang-sook, played by Eom Ji-won (Cold Blooded Intern). It’s the perfect fairytale wedding for Kwang-sook and her husband Oh Jang-soo, played by Lee Pil-mo (Destined With You), and his four younger brothers welcome her into their family with open arms.

Alas, happiness doesn’t last forever. Jang-soo loses his life when his delivery truck overturns in a tragic accident, leaving Kwang-sook a widow just ten days after their marriage. Mired in heartbreak and knee-deep in denial, Kwang-sook walks dazedly around the front yard of their newlywed house, holding hands with empty air as if Jang-soo is still by her side. “There’s no way Jang-soo would leave me behind, all alone,” Kwang-sook insists in voice pitched high with disbelief and desperation.

That’s when Kwang-sook meets the hotel chairman Han Dong-seok, played by Ahn Jae-wook (Not Others). Adrift in her grief-stricken disorientation, it seems she’s mistaken him for her late spouse. “You have the wrong person,” says Dong-seok — and then Kwang-sook grabs his cheeks between her palms, attempting to pull him into a kiss despite his bewildered protests.

The second teaser takes the form of a makgeolli advertisement, featuring the Eagle Brewery’s prized product. After Jang-soo’s passing, Kwang-sook takes over his brewery, determined to preserve his legacy and lead the business to even greater heights. That means pasting cute googly eyes on a makgeolli bottle and recording a narration extolling its virtues. Higher than the sky up above, the benefactor who birthed and raised Eagle Brewery’s makgeolli — cue record scratch.

“Are you sure this script… is right?” asks a perplexed Dong-seok, paper in hand and boom mic above his head. The reason for his confusion soon becomes clear when the narration continues: “Our sister-in-law’s grace,” exclaims Dong-seok in voiceover, as Kwang-sook holds out a cup of makgeolli with a radiant smile and a charming wink.

The cringe-hilarity doesn’t end there, because Jang-soo’s four brothers — the stolid father Choi Dae-chul (Love Your Enemy), the vibrant Zumba instructor Kim Dong-wan (No Work), the intelligent high-achiever Yoon Park (Cinderella at 2AM), and the special forces maknae Lee Seok-gi — gaze up at the bright blue sky. Then they salute the sun in unison, with the image of a preening Kwang-sook superimposed over it. LOL, it seems like we’re in for a generous dose of comedy alongside the family healing.

Directed by Choi Sang-yeol (My Lovely Boxer) with scripts written by Gu Hyun-sook (Never Twice), Please Take Care of the Five Eagle Brothers will premiere on February 1.
