Team Dramabeans: Our Current Watches | Dramabeans

So, what are we all watching this week?

What kept you reaching for more (or agonizing when there was no more), and what made you want to throw your remote through the screen? Time to weigh in…

Seasons of Blossom: My heart! Oh man. There was something about the dreamy, atmospheric way the flashbacks between Ha-min and So-mang were shot that I was absolutely entranced. I could watch long cuts of them doing nothing in the art room for hours. So, I really wasn’t as invested in the present-day ulzzang characters’ story was much as I was the past storyline. I guess I will grow to like it more as So-mang and Jae-min connect more, but basically I watched through all four mini episodes living for the flashbacks. In fact, I liked it so much now I’ve got my eye on this PD and I’m hoping he gets a bump in his resume because of this one. Oh, and Seo Ji-hoon should also get the accolades he deserves… but that goes without saying, since I think his top five fans of all time write for this site hehe.

It’s Beautiful Now: It had a good run aside that last minute cancer nonsense, which thankfully, was well resolved. I really enjoyed the drama, and looked forward to watching it every week. It’s the first weekender that held my interest since Once Again, and now that I’m back in that space, I’m looking forward to the next one.

Today’s Webtoon: My biggest takeaway from the show is actor Kim Do-hoon. He won me over with his portrayal of artist Shin, and I’m going to be on the lookout for his next project — minus The Law Cafe which I dropped. Generally, the drama was an okay watch, and that’s about it.

Once Upon a Small Town: Go away, Min! Go away, ajummas who interrupt with snacks when two people are inches away from kissing! Thank you for walking away, Officer Ahn, when two men were acting like petty little boys on your afternoon stroll. More female leads should follow your example.

Mental Coach Jegal: This drama will definitely take my emotions on a ride. One minute, I’m laughing at Jegal’s antics, and the next, I’m riled up at the corruption in the sports industry. Nothing annoyed me this week like the mothers signing the petition to bring Coach Oh back. What are they teaching their daughters? That it’s fine to get physically assaulted as long as they can compete and get medals? This is exactly why people like Coach Oh exist. They know they can get away with anything because of mums like these, and these corrupt overlords in the Olympics committee who believe that the end justifies the means. Ugh! He’s not even remorseful, and it’s obvious that people like him will never change. Tsk.

Youth MT: This is crazy hilarious, and these guys are a riot! Scaredy cat Hwang In-yup and bad at guessing games Park Seo-joon were fun to watch. But I’d like to see more of Chae Soo-bin, as she doesn’t seem to have much of a presence yet. Generally, it’s so nice to see these actors in their natural element, and I can’t wait for the remaining episodes.
PS: From the cast, I’m already making mental notes of pairings I’ll like to see in dramas. Ji Chang-wook has already worked with Kim Yoo-jung and Nara, so can he work with Chae Soo-bin next? I want to see her with Park Seo-joon as well. Then a Jin-young and Nara pairing will also be nice. I’m still undecided about who I want to pair Park Bo-gum with.
PPS: How much is the budget of this show?

The Golden Spoon: Nope. Not for me. And I’m disappointed because the premise sounded so good. I love stories about humble beginnings (and middles and ends) but this is too over the top. I have a similar problem with Little Women. Sigh. I’m in need of a good slice-of-life right now.

Love in Contract: I like it. I don’t get it. But I like it.
