Alchemy of Souls: I’m not quite sure how I got behind in this drama, but I haven’t even seen the kiss episode yet! With news of the break next week, though, maybe that’s a good thing, and I can spread out a few episodes until it’s back on air. As for the part 2 casting debacle… I want to say I’ll wait and see how it goes, but what I really feel like doing is running screaming into the night. Actually, no, as long as Wookie gets a happy ending I’ll be okay.
Cafe Minamdang: I love that our secondary couple got together! Also I’m still trying to figure out how Kwak Shi-yang can manage to be so dorky and bizarro when I hoped/craved/expected to see him like this (header image).
Today’s Webtoon: Should I start you?? You look awfully cute!

Big Mouth: I’ve had my fill of legal thrillers, but I had to at least check out Lee Jong-seok’s return to dramaland. I’m so used to him being the suave geeenius that it was amusing to see him as an incompetent lawyer who is a bit of a mess. Unfortunately, the drama didn’t grab me at all, so I guess I’ll be sitting this one out.
Today’s Webtoon: I was curious to see how they’d adapt this cute, slice-of-life Japanese office drama, and so far, I’m liking it. They made enough changes to thoroughly Korean-ify the storytelling and specifics, but the plot and major beats are basically the same. Kim Se-jung is great as Ma-eum – she’s just the right amount of enthusiastic and optimistic without being a caricature. I like that they toned down the characters in general, giving the drama a more grounded feel – the over-the-top characters were the only thing I disliked about the original. Something about the storytelling here did feel a bit … rushed? I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it felt at times like they were rushing plot points and not letting the character moments breathe. I’m hoping we get more on the actual webtoon publishing in the coming episodes and that the romance they’re certainly going to add in doesn’t take over the story.
Alchemy of Souls: I’m honestly not sure why I’m enjoying this one so much. From the first episode, I found it ridiculous and hard to take seriously, yet also weirdly engaging. I thought for sure I’d end up dropping it, but here I am still. I blame Lee Jae-wook.

Transit Love 2: Aw, Won-bin and Ji-yeon are so mature and thoughtful. They both have sensitive hearts, but it’s clear they share an inner strength that allows them to connect on a deeper level. My heart breaks for Hae-eun, and I just want her to find happiness — whether that’s with her ex, with someone new, or just by herself. On a side note, there’s something about Na-yeon that feels somewhat off — maybe I’m just not a fan of how flirty she is? Oh well. I definitely like the rest of the cast though, and I love the running joke of Won-bin being an Animal Crossing villager because he’s always watering the plants, LOL.
