Kim Eung-soo Gets Coffee for Park Hae-jin in “Old School Intern”

In MBC’s upcoming drama Old School Intern, Park Hae-jin (Forest) plays a typical male lead—a young, charismatic, capable boss. The twist comes with his co-lead, who isn’t a bright-eyed poor Candy, but a stodgy old man. Kim Eung-soo (Chief of Staff) plays the Old School Intern that gets hired to be on Park Hae-jin’s team. Their characters have a long history together; Kim Eung-soo used to be Park Hae-jin’s boss and he made life miserable for Park during his rookie days.

The new teaser-trailer reveals how Park Hae-jin gets his revenge on Kim Eung-soo. In Park Hae-jin’s voiceover, he asks Kim Eung-soo whether he’s really okay with him (Park Hae-jin) as his boss. Kim Eung-soo replies that he’s fine with it, and in an ominous statement, Park Hae-jin says: “We’ll see if you can endure it.”

The following scenes capture Kim Eung-soo sent on a bunch of errands by Park Hae-jin from bringing coffee to moving boxes. When he’s by himself, Kim Eung-soo curses out his new boss, who yells at him for creating trouble everywhere he goes. One day, Kim Eung-soo explodes in an empty office, but the next day, he’s back on his knees begging for forgiveness and a second chance from Park Hae-jin.

Clearly, there’s many vicissitudes that these two encounter in their relationship because Kim Eung-soo goes from giving Park Hae-jin a thumbs-up to a thumbs-down in their company lobby. Park Hae-jin takes Kim Eung-soo aside to rebuke him, and asks rhetorically whether he thinks working at the company is a joke. In an impulsive moment, Kim Eung-soo says he’ll take responsibility and quit. Because of all the piled up resentment, Kim Eung-soo challenges Park Hae-jin: “What are you to order me around? You’re a moron.” After he leaves in a huff, Park Hae-jin frustratedly shouts into his hands, while staring at a beautiful Seoul skyline.

MBC Wednesday-Thursday miniseries Old School Intern will begin airing on May 20.
