With the Halloween season officially here, I’m in the mood for some spooky content. There isn’t much horror airing this month, though — with the exception of the creepy Hell Is Other People — so I’ll have to binge summer drama Hotel del Luna on my own time. (I’ve been hearing good things!) For now, let’s dive into the first batch of October premieres.
At the start of the week, we had the premiere of gender bender sageuk Tale of Nokdu, which garnered 7.1 percent Monday and 8.3 percent Tuesday. I’d say that this is a big win for KBS since its last drama Let Me Hear Your Song barely reached 4 percent ratings. Mid-week, we had the premiere of fantasy romance Extraordinary You, which didn’t quite do as well.
Then, over the weekend, we had the premiere of yet another sageuk called My Country: The New Age. Like Tale of Nokdu, it came into the week with great numbers, garnering high 3 percent ratings. 2019 really seems to be the year of the sageuk, doesn’t it?
