On the Verge of Insanity: The last episodes managed to throw a few plot twists my way while still keeping everyone and their resolutions true to character. Choi Ban-sung stayed true to himself and persevered in developing his own company. Dang Ja-young held on to her ambitions and steered Banstone to success. Even our ostensible “villain” Han Se-kwon experienced a measure of growth and found his calling in the end (Youtuber is a weirdly perfect fit for him). I wish I could give this drama a big hug, it was just such a wonderful watch.
D.P.: Gu Kyo-hwan is a revelation. The drama is much darker and more intense than the promos had suggested but I am here for it.

My Absolute Boyfriend: Just finished Episode 3 and still waiting for some actual plot. The pseudo-romantic hijinks are fun, but they only get you so far. All this episode I found myself preferring the Wang-joon scenes to that of Da-da and her robot boyfriend. Is it bad I’m still shipping him with Da-da? (Is that how we are going to get around this non-human romance?)(Don’t spoil me!) Also loved that scene where we flashback to him building his gundam robots and says they’re like him: fabulous and pathetic. Hah, what a great line.

Currently recapping: Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha
Police University: I have mixed feelings about some of the over-the-top comedy moments and the sort-of love triangle (I say sort-of because it feels more like Min-kyu trying to insert himself into an already beginning relationship), but overall this show consistently makes me really happy. The detective work is fun, and I just adore Sun-ho. I like too that it keeps making the point that he’s still a student with a lot to learn. It does worry me just a little that Dong-man seems to forget that point, though. Especially because it feels like he’s facing a similar situation over and over and not learning from it: first he lost a beloved junior, then his partner was injured — and yet he’s still putting a student in harm’s way. (A student who willingly chose to join him, but still.) That said, the secret-agent-esque hijinks are SO much fun, and I hope Kang-hee gets pulled into them at some point — and hey, maybe even Min-kyu. Think of what a great team that could be!
