Visiting Mars—also known as the Red Planet—holds significant importance in the Astra Malorum map of Black Ops 7 Zombies, especially if you’re eager to complete its main Easter egg. Securing your passage to this extraterrestrial destination isn’t as straightforward as hopping into a spaceship; instead, you must open a teleportation portal. Follow this guide to uncover the crucial steps for making your way to Mars.
1. Unlock the LGM-1 Wonder Weapon
Your journey begins with unlocking the LGM-1 Wonder Weapon. First, you need to gather specific items and then defeat O.S.C.A.R. using traps placed in three separate locations. If you’re seeking an in-depth walkthrough for obtaining this weapon, we have a comprehensive guide available.
2. Follow O.S.C.A.R.’s Directions
After obtaining the LGM-1, wait for O.S.C.A.R. to respawn. When he does, he’ll lead you to a designated location. Avoid his spotlight while you trail behind, and try to damage him from his rear, although this isn’t mandatory. Listen for a recording of Thurston mentioning three planet names in succession; note these names carefully.
3. Decode the Planet Order
For instance, if my game playthrough revealed the order to be Mercury, Venus, and Neptune, you would determine the code by their distance from the Sun, resulting in a numeric sequence of 128. This sequence is pivotal for the next step, so make sure to get it right.
4. Activate the Lift in the Observatory Dome
Once you have the code, head over to the Observatory Dome. Here, near the Pack-A-Punch, you’ll find a terminal. Enter the code to activate a lift that carries a corpse. Retrieve the key from this corpse and make your way to Museum Infinitum.
5. Collect Necessary Items
Inside the Museum Infinitum, you’ll find a saw in a glass display. Break the glass to claim your saw, and move to the south room of Machina Astralis. Approach the Cryopod and interact with the body to extract the brain, ensuring you have the saw handy for this process.
6. Replace Thurston’s Brain
Next, travel to the Luminarium, where a distinct brain sits on a table. Replace it with Thurston’s brain and defend this zone for a solid minute. Afterward, grab the brain and head back to Machina Astralis to find a curious machine situated on the ground floor.
7. Power Up the Machine
Insert the brain into the machine located next to the teleport pad, which activates automatically. You will see Thurston’s Reading List displayed, alongside a collection of random book titles. It’s crucial to note down every title you see, as these are important.
8. Find Mars Coordinates
Return to the Observatory room and interact with the telescope. Instead of locating the Sun, look for Mars and take note of the coordinates found in the bottom left corner. You’ll need these coordinates to input on a terminal in Machina. If done correctly, Thurston will confirm that the coordinates lead to Mars.
9. Interact with the Busts and Shelves
Your next step requires visiting the Archive and locating three statues. Each statue is accompanied by a set of bookshelves. You’ll need to examine the books on these shelves and interact with the corresponding bust. Be mindful that with each correctly identified book, you may have to interact with the bust multiple times.
10. Align the Planets
Timing is critical, as you can only interact with the busts at the start of a new round. Once you finish, climb the ladder in the Archive and take the Neptune model to the top of the Machina’s planetarium. Here, you will also find three clue notes in fixed locations to help guide your alignment of planets.
- Check the second floor of the big circular room for the first note.
- Find another in the trap room of the Luminarium.
- The last note is located on a table in the Archive room.
11. Charge the Portal
Return to the top of the planetarium and shoot the planets according to the notes you collected until they align correctly. Now, go to the machine on the ground floor of Machina and press F. This will start charging the portal, but be prepared to fend off O.S.C.A.R. and other zombies during this time. Your priority should be destroying the flying discs emitted by O.S.C.A.R. to maintain the portal’s progress.
12. Teleport to Mars
Once the portal is fully charged, prepare for your teleportation to Mars, marking the beginning of the final phase in completing the Astral Malorum main Easter egg. Reaching Mars is also essential for unlocking the musical Easter egg that features a track from Avenged Sevenfold.
