Romantic Sunshine: Kam Woo-sung and Kim Haneul in The Wind Blows

The upcoming JTBC romance melo The Wind Blows has released its first video teaser featuring Kam Woo-sung (Should We Kiss First) and Kim Haneul (On the Way to the Airport). The two actors are set to play a couple who breakup—only to then fall in love with each other all over again years down the road.

Kim Haneul was Kam Woo-sung’s first love and they’re happily married when Kam is suddenly diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. In an act of loving sacrifice (or perhaps noble idiocy depending on your perspective), he divorces her in order to spare her the ordeal of seeing him decline. Kim Haneul was deeply in love with Kam Woo-sung at the time of their breakup, to the point that he was her entire life. When she eventually learns about his diagnosis, she makes an unexpected decision.

The video teaser starts with a photographer calling out to Kim Haneul at what looks to be the couple’s wedding photoshoot. Kam Woo-sung and Kim are eager for the shoot to proceed smoothly but a young couple keep walking into the frame while arguing.

Kim and Kam are clearly irritated but the hiccup doesn’t seem to put a damper on their happiness. (Kam reassures his wife jokingly, “After we take our photos, I’ll kill them. Promise.”) Though their shots keep getting ruined, Kam Woo-sung doesn’t seem to have a care in the world and he gazes lovingly at Kim Haneul before sweeping her up in his arms and getting a whole bunch of adorable shots of the two of them. The teaser ends with Kam and Kim in voice over taking turns to say, “The Wind Blows, airing on Mondays and Tuesdays at JTBC. May 27.”

When a melo gives out a cute, rom-com-esque teaser, I automatically think the show itself will be an emotional gut punch. Both leads have this sweet, lovey-dovey chemistry with each other that suits their characters well and I can’t say no to a Kam Woo-sung drama. The Wind Blows will be directed by PD Jung Jung-hwa (Absolute Boyfriend, Flower Boy Next Door) and written by Hwang Joo-ha (Mrs. Cop).
