Remember that moment when you finally crafted that god-tier weapon, only to realize it wasn’t quite what you needed? The frustration of wasted resources is real, especially when those resources are hard to come by. But what if you could get those precious ores back? The Forge’s latest update introduces a recycling mechanism that lets you do just that.
The Alchemist’s Dream: Recycling Ores in The Forge
Ever tried to salvage materials from a broken appliance? The feeling of recovering valuable components is similar to what The Forge offers with its ore recycling. By visiting specific NPCs, you can now reclaim ores from crafted equipment, turning yesterday’s mistakes into tomorrow’s opportunities.
To recycle ores, seek out Marbles in Stonewake’s Cross or Wo in the Forgotten Kingdom and Frostspire Expanse. These characters, found in The Forge’s key locations, provide both selling and recycling services.

Keep in mind that only crafted armor and weapons are eligible for recycling. Generally, expect to recover half the ores used in the original crafting process. For instance, a Straight Sword made from two Yeti Heart, two Void Star, and two Snowite ores would yield one of each ore upon recycling. Daggers, which use one ore of each rarity, are an exception, returning all original ores.

There’s a cost involved. Recycling requires spending in-game currency, proportional to the item’s selling price. Rarer items demand a higher recycling fee. Also, double-check your inventory space before recycling; a full inventory prevents ore recovery.
What happens if my inventory is full while recycling?
Imagine trying to pour water into an already full glass. The ores simply won’t be added to your inventory if it’s at capacity. Free up some space to avoid losing your recycled materials.
Strategic Recycling: When to Reclaim Your Resources in The Forge
Think of recycling as trimming a bonsai tree: careful pruning yields better growth. Recycling in The Forge isn’t just about getting ores back; it’s about making smart economic decisions based on where you are in the game.
Recycling is particularly beneficial for reclaiming Mythic, Relic, and Divine ores used in weapon and armor crafting. Instead of selling unwanted weapons, recycle them. Weapons like Straight Swords, Gauntlets, Spears, and Axes often require rare ores that significantly boost damage. If the RNG gods haven’t favored you, recycling becomes an attractive option.
Is it better to recycle or sell unwanted gear?
The answer depends on the item type and your game stage. Armor, especially Heavy Armor, often sells for a good price, making selling a viable option. However, weapons, especially those crafted with rare ores, are generally better candidates for recycling.
Late-game players, who likely have efficient money-making methods, can benefit significantly from recycling. Early to mid-game players might want to hold off until they acquire a high-quality pickaxe, making ore gathering more efficient.
Can you recycle Pickaxes in The Forge?
Sadly, no. Pickaxes, your trusty tools for gathering, cannot be recycled. Focus on upgrading your pickaxe through conventional crafting methods to maximize your mining efficiency.
So, have you experimented with the recycling feature in The Forge? What hidden benefits have you discovered? What unexpected combinations of recycled ores are proving surprisingly useful?
