The roar of the crowd, the glint of the championship belt, the weight of expectation – it’s a feeling only a WWE Superstar knows. For fans, the closest we get is gripping the controller, ready to rewrite history. What if you could relive the most electrifying moments of the Attitude Era, pixel by pixel, body slam by body slam?
WWE games have a legacy as powerful as a Goldberg spear. Since 1989, a new digital wrestling arena has arrived each year, with developers like Yuke’s (Smackdown! Here Comes the Pain and SmackDown vs. Raw) building that foundation.
Visual Concepts has been calling the shots for WWE games development since 2K20, with 2K as publisher. Last year’s title, WWE 2K25, brought some seismic shifts to the gameplay, including a new open-world mode called The Island and a Bloodline Edition packed with content.
Now, 2K is gearing up to deliver another bone-crushing experience with WWE 2K26, promising an updated roster and a nostalgic trip back to the most rebellious era in wrestling history. Here’s what’s coming.
WWE 2K26: When Can You Expect to Slam Into the Ring?
Think back to your favorite WrestleMania moment. The energy, the drama – wouldn’t you want to experience that feeling again? The rumor mill points to a early March 2026 release for WWE 2K26, placing it weeks before WrestleMania 42 (April 18-19, 2026).
While details remain tightly under wraps, expect a launch around March 14, mirroring 2K25’s release timing and perfectly setting the stage for WrestleMania season.
WWE 2K26: How Much Will It Cost to Step Into the Attitude Era?
The feeling of anticipation can be as strong as a piledriver. Pre-orders for WWE 2K26 are rumored to go live on January 30, 2026. WWE teased an “Attitude Era” edition in a 30-second teaser on X, hinting at a return to the late 90s-early 2000s, when WWE (then WWF) was at its most audacious.

The WWE 2K26 Attitude Era Edition could clock in at $149.99 (approximately €139), offering a showcase mode where you can relive iconic moments. The teaser includes glimpses of Stone Cold’s debut, The Rock’s heel turn, DX’s formation, Mankind vs. The Undertaker, and more.
In addition to the Attitude Era edition, a Standard Edition and another, currently secret, edition will be available. Pricing and details for those remain hidden for now.
Will WWE 2K26 Be on Nintendo Switch?
Imagine taking your favorite superstar on the road, battling for glory on the go. WWE 2K26 is slated for release on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.
It’s not yet known if the game will arrive on Netflix, but given the success of 2K25 on mobile devices via the Netflix Games app, a release on the platform a few months after launch feels very plausible.
Who Will Grace the Cover of WWE 2K26?
Remember the thrill of unwrapping a new game, seeing your favorite wrestler on the cover? The cover star for WWE 2K26 is still a mystery, with WWE dropping teasers and asking superstars for their predictions.
Online speculation heavily leans towards CM Punk. His last WWE game cover appearance was on WWE ’13 in 2013, during his championship reign alongside Paul Heyman, coinciding with his infamous “Pipebomb” promo.
If the whispers are true, players could relive Punk’s WWE moments in the showcase mode and even deliver their own version of the Pipebomb.
