3. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre – Leatherface’s Transformation

At Neon’s The Next Wave of Horror panel during San Diego Comic-Con, Osgood Perkins shared his vision for the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. He hinted that he’s “certainly in the conversation” for directing the next installment.

My team and I explored a storyline for Texas Chainsaw. We’re not entirely sure about its status, but we are in discussions. The rights holders really cared about Leatherface, emphasizing his complex background as a neurodivergent character shaped by a traumatic past. This adds layers to him that reflect the depth of classic monster narratives.

Interestingly, the rights holders urged us that ‘Leatherface should never have a love interest.’ Naturally, that suggestion sparked some creative thought!
