Marvel Rivals: Deadpool Plays All Roles!

Marvel Rivals: Deadpool Plays All Roles!

The chimichangas were stale. The studio lights were hot. Deadpool, ever the iconoclast, decided the standard hero reveal was boring anyway. Breaking the fourth wall, he announced he’d be switching roles in Marvel Rivals—all of them.

NetEase revealed that Marvel Rivals‘ new season, launching at the end of this week, includes Deadpool as the latest playable character. Uniquely, Deadpool can swap between the game’s three main archetypes—Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist—during a match. Wade Wilson himself crashed NetEase’s developer video to make the announcement.

Wade says he can be a Vanguard, dropping unicorn plushies that create protective shields for allies or block enemy fire. He can be a Duelist, dealing damage with katanas and pistols at various ranges. Or, he’ll play Strategist, using katanas and pistols to damage foes and heal allies. To switch, Deadpool returns to his team’s spawn point, either by retreating or after defeat.

Deadpool features a unique in-game progression system, seemingly confusing Marvel Rivals for an RPG. Wade levels up during a match and upgrades individual abilities, increasing their power. Unlike other heroes, he charges his ultimate ability through a style-grade system that rewards skillful fighting. In the gameplay video, Wade’s ultimate targets enemies, harassing them with damaging attacks as a Duelist (enhanced by consecutive ability use) or healing/shielding auras as a Strategist/Vanguard.

The approach mirrors Deadpool’s meta style, creating a character that’s versatile and unpredictable. He’s a Swiss Army Knife, useful for any situation. We’ll see how Wade impacts Rivals‘ meta when he arrives on January 16.

Okay, but How Will Deadpool Work in Marvel Rivals?

Ever been stuck in a dead-end job, wishing you could just switch roles mid-shift? Deadpool gets it. In Marvel Rivals, he can shift from tank to damage dealer to support on the fly.

According to the announcement, players can change Deadpool’s role by returning to their spawn point. This flexibility allows teams to adapt their strategy during a match, responding to enemy compositions and battlefield conditions. Think of him as a chameleon, adapting to whatever the team needs most.

What Makes Deadpool Different From Other Marvel Rivals Characters?

Remember that one friend who always changes their mind? That’s Deadpool. His adaptability sets him apart.

Most heroes in Marvel Rivals are locked into a specific role, limiting their flexibility. Deadpool’s ability to swap between Vanguard, Duelist, and Strategist provides a tactical advantage. This dynamism could force opponents to rethink their strategies.

Style Matters: Leveling Up Deadpool’s Abilities

Imagine a world where you get rewarded for doing things with style. For Deadpool, that’s reality.

Deadpool’s unique progression system rewards players for stylish play. By executing impressive combos and maneuvers, players can quickly charge his ultimate ability. This system encourages aggressive play and a willingness to experiment with his different roles.

How Does Deadpool’s Ultimate Ability Work?

Remember that time you unleashed all your skills at once? Deadpool’s ultimate is like that, but amplified.

His ultimate ability varies depending on his current role. As a Duelist, he unleashes a flurry of damaging attacks. As a Strategist, he provides healing and shielding auras. The versatility of his ultimate reflects his overall adaptability.

Could Deadpool’s Flexibility Break the Game?

Ever worry that a new addition will unbalance everything? Some players are concerned about Deadpool.

It remains to be seen whether Deadpool’s unique abilities will make him overpowered. His playstyle will demand a high skill ceiling, requiring players to master all three roles. Will he be a game-changer, or just a fun distraction?
