Dispatch Officially Coming to Xbox: Release Date & Details

I was mid-scroll when the Partner Preview banner cut through my feed. For months Dispatch lived on PlayStation and PC only. Then the confirmation landed: it’s coming to Xbox this summer.

I’ve been there with you on this one — waiting, refreshing, hoping for a cross-buy that actually feels fair. Microsoft confirmed during the Xbox Partner Preview that Dispatch will arrive in summer 2026 as an Xbox Play Anywhere title, so you can buy it once and play on Xbox consoles and Windows without extra purchases.

The Partner Preview banner cut through my feed at noon.

That short announcement changes the accessibility map. Xbox Play Anywhere means your copy works across Xbox and Windows, so whether you prefer a Series X, Series S, or a gaming PC, the friction is gone. AdHoc Studios’ move here is notable — they’d stayed noncommittal about Microsoft’s ecosystem until now.

When will Dispatch release on Xbox?

The window is summer 2026. Microsoft confirmed the season during the Partner Preview but didn’t share a day; expect a precise date in a future Xbox update.

On launch day my inbox filled with both praise and nitpicks.

I gave Dispatch an 8.5 and called it the best-written game of 2025. The characters hit hard and fast, and the writing is why people keep talking about it. The structure is a strength and a weakness: the episodes flare like a comet — brilliant and blinding, but often gone before you want them to be.

Characters such as Invisigal are the kind that linger in your head. Her moral tug and conflicted beats rank among the most interesting moments I’ve seen in recent interactive storytelling, yet she gets squeezed by the game’s brisk episode rhythm.

Threads and posts already ask whether this means Game Pass or changed content.

People will ask if the Xbox port means inclusion in Xbox Game Pass. That’s not automatic: Xbox Play Anywhere is about cross-buy and cross-save, not subscription placement. Microsoft’s rollout decisions — and any partnership between AdHoc Studios and Xbox — will determine whether the title ever lands on Game Pass.

Will Dispatch be on Xbox Game Pass?

Not announced. If you’re watching Microsoft’s storefront or Xbox social channels, that’s where a Game Pass reveal would appear. For now, plan to buy once and play across Xbox/Windows if you want guaranteed access.

I’ll be frank: I’m glad this one is no longer confined to PS5 and PC. Its writing deserves the widest audience, even if the pacing occasionally frustrates. I hope Microsoft resists any muddled changes like the ones some ports received on Switch 2, and that AdHoc Studios’ voice comes through untouched. Invisigal’s arc lingers like a slow fuse — it keeps smoldering after the credits roll.

I gave it praise and critique when it mattered; you can now decide for yourself which platform it belongs on — will you pick it up on Xbox or stick with PlayStation and PC?
