Last year’s launch of Manor Lords was nothing short of legendary, but let’s be honest—it’s slipped from our collective memory a bit since then. However, the latest patch is poised to bring it back into the spotlight. After diving back into the game, I found myself more excited than ever for the upcoming update.
Is this an update or an overhaul?
This upcoming patch is shaping up to feel more like a full-on overhaul than just a typical update. One of the most significant additions is enemy settlements. If you’re eyeing a neighboring territory, be prepared to lay siege to its keep.
While this mechanic could use some polishing, it’s set to shift the game dynamics significantly once the update rolls out to stable branch users.
The resource and food systems are also receiving a major facelift. For instance, meat will now be categorized into different types: mutton, beef, game, and more. Finally, our citizens can enjoy a more diverse diet instead of just munching on poor carrots!
Moreover, pigs will now provide a more substantial meat yield. Previously, they produced only two units every 150 days, which was hardly worth the effort. Post-update, expect an increase to two units of meat each month, providing a solid source of passive income.
Additionally, villager AI has been improved. Hopefully, this will prevent my hunter from wandering aimlessly across the map for no reason—something that has happened to me far too often.
How to access the Manor Lords update early?

If you’re eager to try the patch before it’s fully finished, here’s how you can get started. Just keep in mind that you may encounter some bugs and might need to uninstall your mods, which could lead to crashes.
It’s wise to back up your save files first. You can find them at the following location: “C:\Users\[Windows Username]\AppData\Local\ManorLords\Saved\SaveGames”. Just remember to replace [Windows Username] with your actual username.
- First, back up your saves.
- Next, open your Steam Library and right-click on Manor Lords.
- Select Properties, then navigate to the Betas tab.
- Enter the password “veryNiceBasket” to access the beta.
- From the dropdown menu under “Beta Participation,” choose “pre_release.”
- Once the update is complete, you’ll be ready to play the latest version.
If the game doesn’t update, try restarting Steam, which usually resolves the issue.
