Every month, NetEase Games amazes us with a new character in Marvel Rivals, and I must say, the developers have truly outdone themselves this season with Gambit.
Since its launch on December 6, 2025, Marvel Rivals has introduced a plethora of iconic heroes, including Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, and Daredevil. However, in my opinion, Gambit stands out as the most entertaining and thoughtfully designed character to date.

Having played Gambit since his release last week, I’ve been struck by how much more thrilling he is compared to the other characters in the strategist role. His dynamic abilities make him a standout choice that feels incredibly rewarding.
Gambit, the powerful Cajun mutant, brings a unique playstyle to the table. His basic attack not only deals damage but also provides healing in a three-card burst. Additionally, his powers, Healing Hearts and Breaking Spades, offer a versatile array of four options instead of the typical two.
With Healing Hearts, you can choose between Bridge Boost, which heals nearby allies, or Purifying Pickup, which cleanses debuffs. Meanwhile, Breaking Spades lets you utilize Explosive Trick to hinder enemy healing or Bidding Barrage, launching cards in an arc that explodes to propel enemies upward.
Gambit’s movement mechanics are equally impressive. He can charge forward, perform a spin with his staff, and deliver a slam that heals companions while damaging foes.
Now let’s talk about his ultimate ability, Ragin’ Royal Flush. This game-changing move heals, purifies, boosts movement speed and jump height, while also accelerating the ultimate charge of a targeted ally—it’s no wonder some players might consider him slightly overpowered.
While Gambit is user-friendly, mastering his card-based abilities demands careful resource management. His one shortcoming is that many players fall into the trap of prioritizing damage over healing, despite his healer capabilities. But trust me, he’s just too enjoyable to play, and I’m left curious about how NetEase plans to top this.

Looking ahead, next season already teases two newcomers: the monster hunter Elsa Bloodstone and the ever-entertaining Deadpool. I’m particularly excited about Deadpool, as his knack for slapstick humor and breaking the fourth wall opens doors for imaginative and hilarious gameplay opportunities.
Don’t miss out on Gambit’s upcoming ally, Rogue, launching in early December. Speculation suggests she’ll be a Vanguard character, promising an exciting holiday season as we celebrate the game’s first anniversary.
